Am I reading that right? The 604 may have fully rolled 3-5 times?

Yikes.

Also, I forgot the Googling "do a barrel roll" resulted in the page doing a barrel roll, so it made image selection tough!

Not sure if this is the right thread or not, but what do you all use for an arrivals/departures app? I have always used Mobiata's FlightBoard, but they've retired their brand and apps. It was a great app, free, and always worked. Any suggestions?

I use Flightaware and also used Flightstats in the past. For live tracking Flightradar24 is my go to.

If I want to see a specific day (ie: today) I check FlightStats. If I want to see a history, or am curious where an arrival flight is coming from (ie: I'm flying Halifax to Toronto, where's my flight arriving in Halifax from) then I use Flightaware.

To see what's currently in the air, Flightradar24.

Potential WestJet close call in St. Maarten?

http://christinenegroni.com/westjet-...ra-st-maarten/

Can not find any other articles or reports on this, lots of debate on the comments of that article about if the too low approach photo is legit or not.

That's crazy.

Can WestJet deny that? Wouldn't the airport traffic controllers know the planes altitude?

Also kinda sketched that no other media picked this story up.

Video of the first approach and then second one with landing:

From 0:05 to 0:10 you can see just how low they are.

Certainly low, but "skimming the water" as the claim in the original link posted, is exaggerated, relative to that airport.

The pilots recognized the situation and made the right decision by executing a go around with a subsequent successful landing, this happens everyday for a variety of reasons, does the media report that ? The weather was not good at SXM and the crew of another 737 which landed prior to WJA commented on only picking up the runway 1 mile out. The airport was subsequently closed for 45 minutes after the WJA GA due to poor visibility. An Airbus A320 chose to go to their alternate in Guadeloupe. A KLM A330 was also asked to hold until the weather improved but chose to execute the approach due to fuel restrictions. Do we really need more sensationalist media coverage in order to 'scare' the populous for no good reason ?

Winds at the time 050 at 21 knots. Wonder if there could have been wind shear due to the terrain to the north?
