Will Bitten could be an intriguing late first or early second round pick. He had a long slump while stuff was hitting the fan with Flint (2 goals in 15 games after Ndeljkovic and Wesley were traded) but rebounded and still finished close to a point per game.

It couldn't have been easy being part of the Flint Firebirds.

I'm incredibly leery of goalies ranked this high. Who was the last high ranked goalie that turned out? Price? Fleury before that? I don't really want to be a part of Hart or Fitzpatrick. Take a goalie in the 5th or later. Preferably.

Vasilevskiy was ranked highly. He has a .910 SV% over 40 games as a 21 year old.

John Gibson, Vasilevsky, Markstrom, Jake Allen, Lehner, Pickard

All goalies that went in the early 2nd (or 1st for Vas) that have turned out decently well

They are a crapshoot and they do take forever but a lot of the most highly regarded young goalies right now were drafted in the 2nd or 3rd (Jon Gillies and Matt Murray were 3rd rounders). I'm not saying we should draft one in the 2nd or 3rd but its not the complete throwaway pick that some people make it out to be. Your chance of finding an NHL starter in the 5th round isn't great. Sure it happens sometimes and people like to point to that but that majority of the most highly regarded young goalies in the NHL or the minors today came from the 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Not a big fan of Mascherin. Has a big shot but seems like a Gilbert Brule type to me-aka skills won't translate. Also not a fan of Raddysh at all. Bastien I like however.

Luke Green sounds intriguing. He stood out at the prospects game for me.

The quality in the second round of this years draft is much lower than last year IMO. The talent really falls off around 25 or so.

And we've got three 2nd rounders. Even if one is a first it's still outside of the good talent level. Maybe some deals coming up.

Today a guy I have ranked way lower than most of the scouting services.

Logan Stanley

I'd be ecstatic to land him at #35. Really liked his game at the U18s, I think he has that Derien Hatcher type potential. Be interesting to see where he goes, I highly doubt he falls out of the 1st round.

The thing that scares me away from big physical defenders is that if they don't show the skill to do any scoring in junior, their upside is pretty limited. Stanley seems to have some scoring ability with his 5 goals and 12 assists. Kanzig only had 7 assists in his draft year for comparison.

I don't think he falls out of the first round either... but these are rankings, not a mock draft. I personally wouldn't take him first round, but believe an NHL team will.

Samuel Girard, pretty much the polar opposite of Stanley.

I have had my eye on Dineen for a while now while checking in on how Rasmus Andersson was doing in the OHL D points race where Dineen was second, to Andersson, by a single point (60 to 59). At 5'11" hes clearly not a big Dman but if he grows another inch he'd be at that 6 foot mark and thats not unmanageable. Hockey IQ seems to be one of his strengths and hes a very good puck moving and offensive Dman. I wouldnt be mad if the Flames were able to get him either with the 35 or by moving up with other picks.
