I grew up on a farm and they were always scared ####less of us humans. Or maybe reason they were scared is because they knew we had guns. They tried to eat our chickens all the time.

My friends have a marrema sheep dog and for years it has brought death and destruction to the coyote population. She literally piles up the bodies at the edge of the property. There's a boneyard there. A warning pile. She comes home covered in coyote blood, sometimes dragging the best pieces back to her shelter for dinner. The goldens are like WTF! She's on our side right? But no one really knows. She's frosty. An emotionless killer who occasionally likes her belly rubbed. Get a marrema. You won't have no problems no more.

Prior to Stoney Trail being built by my house we had a lot more coyotes. A few times they would try to lure my dog away from me, and one time they actually surrounded the two of us. At that point I joined by dog in growling and yelling, and that made the coyotes back away. The figured the dog was easy prey, but once the big guy started getting aggressive, they had enough.

I saw the thread title and thought this was about the hockey Coyotes until I noticed the word "dangerous," then I saw it's not in the Fire on Ice forum.
