Winsport Today
I am not sure if this is best asked in here? Does anyone know what was going on at Winsport today? they had one of the rinks roped off for Authorized Personnel only. And, there was definitely some Flames players there.
My daughter was there for ringette camp, and after the skate, one of the players went over to my daughters camp and signed all their jerseys and sticks. I was assuming this may be just a group of guys in town for a skate? But, anyways, the player who signed her jersey was wearing a Flames jersey. No numbers.
But, I can not figure out for sure who it is. I had her look at the pictures, and she knows she met Troy Brouwer, but, thats not the one who signed the jersey.
The guy who signed the jersey, his signature starts with an M and he signed it #21. There is no #21 on the Flames, and I looked at some of the prospects who start with an M, and it was none of them. So, I figure it might be a guy from another team in for a skate?

Hockey Canada was using rinks A and B for their U17 camp. The Flames just happened to have ice time between sessions.

So..... WTF was Mason Raymond doing there?
He's certainly not U17, and shouldn't be anywhere near the flames.... unless he's just staying in shape for a European contract. Though the flames are still paying him over a million in 17/18. Maybe they're recouping some by charging him $10 for drop in ice....

He still lives in the Cochrane/Calgary area as far as I know. So h playing at winsport is perfectly normal. And lots of other players from other teams play at winsport too. I recall guy like Alzner and a few other AB guys being there years past as well.

Hockey Canada? I believe he is penciled in as being on the team. Perhaps he was allowed to skate because of that?

I don't think the Flames are paying for the ice so it's probably sort of by invitation of the local pro players.

My original response was in regard to "the Flames had ice". If it was infact the Calgary Flames paying for the ice Mason Raymond would be no where near it, so it is not perfectly nornal.
It is perfectly normal if "some flames players and others had ice". Big difference

Definitely not the team booking the ice, that would be against the CBA.
