Bailey > Fast going into next year with getting a far better re-rate and is still on a cheap contract for another year + the pick for a rental in Chara. Plus Jones because Scorpion's man crush.

Not that it much matters now since the vote is all but decided but I'd like to point out that the previous Islander GM acquired Chara for a 2nd back in May http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...32&postcount=2 so I'm not sure that a 3rd and an upgrade on a player for next year (Bailey is having a better year than Fast, both RFA aged) is that far off base.

Umm I'm getting the third.
It's Fast for Bailey, and Chara for a 3rd + a cap dump.
Bailey is far superior to Fast, and Chara is a rental who'll probably be useless next year. Unless someone's willing to give me a 2nd or 1st straight up for Zdeno, I'll take a 3rd plus a cap dump to keep the contracts even.
This trade's value is really equal, IMO -- even possibly slanted slightly towards me.

I disagree on this.
Chara as a rental should get you a lot more then Jones and/or a 3rd. However you want to look at it.

Well, you shouldn't.
Fast has 15 points this season on the best offensive team in the NHL, at age 25.
Bailey has 32 points this season on one of the worst teams in the NHL, at age 27.

Chara is an elite CPHL dman when factoring in his current rating.
I would expect many teams would be interested in acquiring this player as a rental. Especially if you can help with the cap.
Bailey is a tough player to figure out, as his previous two seasons were sub-par.

Personally I didnt have an issue with this deal. But seeing that a lot of people are valuing Chara high I am interested to see if someone steps up and pays for him.

Close call. I think Chara is worth more, but ultimately voted yes because Bailey has another year on a cheap deal and is probably in for a bit of a ratings bump.

I voted yes largely because I think if he doesn't make this trade, he may end up losing him to free agency for nothing.
Bailey is a good but not great piece moving forward.
