I used two amigos twice. Both times no issues. A friend just used them as well. Haven't heard any complaints.

Curious. What would a ballpark be on moving something like that within city limits? I've got a 900 sqft condo (not in the market for buying or selling just yet but keeping an eye on the market) that I feel if I did move, a moving company would be my way to go.

I used Highland Movers and they did a great job. Not cheap, but decent value.

I had used AMJ Campbell for our move and the guys were really great. You even get free moving boxes if you use them.

Alternatively, I would have used Premiere Van Lines if they were available for our date.

You may pay more for both but they are upfront about the cost, insurance and criminal checks.

Anyone use PODS? They drop off the container at your old house and you can take your time loading it up. When you're done they come take it to your new house and you can take your time unloading it. What I'm interested in is that they can also store your container if your new place isn't ready yet.

I used King's Transfer Van Lines for my move. I'm sure that the guys got high in between my house being packed up and getting to the new house, but whatever. They were fantastic. Not cheap at all, but they packed up my 3 bedroom condo in 3 hours and had all of the boxes into the new place by 3pm. Plenty of boxes, paper and everything. Nothing broke and they left us as many boxes, paper and extra tape that we needed.
Nothing but A+ for for King's Transfer Van Lines

Mine was expensive like I said, but their's is based on weight. I think that I was around $6,000....not cheap, but worth every penny

For a 1 bedroom apartment I was quoted about $1,000 from AMJ and Jay's.

FCAV, we had a 875 sqft condo and we did a "partial move" similar to OP. We used a half ton to move over boxes of stuff and just used a mover for furniture and heavy stuff (moving to a 3 floor townhouse and I didn't want the hassle of carrying heavy furniture up two flights of stairs).

We used OOMovers. All of their drivers own their trucks/moving companies so I think there's an incentive for them to be good, otherwise they might get booted from OOMovers.

They charged 1/4 hour billing + 1 hour for travel. I think it took them two of them 2-3/4 hours. It ended up being about $500. I was only moving about 20 blocks away though.

We used Mountain Movers for our recent move and were very impressed.

Very detailed, efficient and overall good guys.
We moved from a very full 1600 sq foot home to a 2450 sq foot home and they needed two trips, as our outdoor furniture wouldn't fit in the 1st load.

If we ever move again, I'd use give them repeat business.

I just used "Bill & Ben The Mighty Moving Men"

Moved a 2bdr 1000sq ft condo (furniture only) and was billed for 6hrs @ $149/hr.

Nothing was damaged that I can tell, but that's about it for positives.

I've never heard two professional movers complain so much about how hard moving is. They told me that it wasn't possible to move:

1. A small couch into the living room
2. A queen-sized box spring into the master bedroom
3. A 3.5 ft. desk out of my office

(After persuasion and helping apply some basic spatial geometry, all were moved successfully.)

I left the movers to meet the Telus guys, after which they told my wife they couldn't safely move any of my TVs and got out of there before I returned.

Also - despite having a full pre-move inventory for estimate (including our exercise equipment), they arrived and told me that it would be an extra $175 to move our elliptical, or $100 "off bill".

Find somebody else.

I've used Riteway in the past. Came in around $750. No complaints at all and thought I did well since other quotes were ~1k.

Bump.

So I sold my house and the new owners take possession Feb 16. I still haven't found anything to move into. Are there any moving companies that will take your stuff and store it for a period of time? I'm hoping to get into something by March 1, but would rather avoid putting my stuff in storage for a few weeks then hiring another moving company to move it out.
