Seems really odd to do parent/teacher interviews in the middle of a work day.
Sixty-nine per cent of Canadian families with at least one child under 16 are dual-earner families and with a few exception/unless you're a government employee today is a work day. The vast majority of people are not going to be able to make it to a parent/teacher interview today without gross inconvenience, so I can't fathom why they would plan it like that.

My son's day home provider has the day off with pay. As a result I have the day off without pay.

Some provincial government employees definitely have today off, but it's business as usual in private industry from what I've seen.
|
Yep, PD day for teachers! We do compressed hours so 8-2 with no lunch.

We have Easter Sunday as a paid holiday because once upon a time, we modeled ourselves after a city of Calgary program. There was a time when everyone expected us to be off on Easter Monday as most of the destinations were also closed.
However times are changing and the customers are expecting to be able to go to dr appointments and labwork and groceries... It seems that soon we will have to re-assess.

I tried to pay for street parking downtown, and it was free.

5 day weekend for me!!! Easter Monday is a holiday and my work gives everyone the Tuesday off. It was something negotiated by the union that they decided to roll out to the entire company.

I didn't even realize that after high school, Easter Monday actually had any importance in the work world for some people.
