How do you know an officer has been shot? Unless I'm blind (might be the case), those tweets just say that it's an active situation?
One of the tweets didn't load

BREAKING: Postmedia photographer says the shot officer was laying on the road covered in a blanket surrounded by other police. He was unconscious. Shots continue to be fired by gunman.
Apparently the shooter is currently holed up in a house. On 660, they said that there were reports that someone was knocking on doors and demanding keys to cars in the neighborhood earlier today, might be related.
Hopefully no more innocent people are hurt. I really hope he didn't light a house on fire, I don't know how the fire department can even work when there is a shooter involved.

I've never really thought about it much, but cops tend to look pretty bulky. Is an average constable provided with a ballistic vest for his day to day patrol?
