When I was illegally crossing the border they helped me. I dont trust them but they are good at it and thats what appreciates that about them.

Stay away from the golf courses in mid-April as that's where you will find the Coyotes hanging around in packs. I don't believe they are overly dangerous but there's a good chance they may bore you to death.

They're dangerous to dogs. Our offleash is adjacent to the Tsuu Tina land, and often while we're walking in the dark in winter other dog owners will warn us off that there are coyotes nearby. That usually ends the walk. My current and last dog are both fairly robust res dogs themselves, but I don't like to take any chances.

I've been to nose hill and know what coyotes look like. Those are wolves, be careful.

I remember a story in the Calgary Herald a decade or so ago, about a guy out walking his dog in (I think) Nose Hill park, when he heard the whimpering of an injured dog somewhere out in the twilight. He followed the sound, but it kept moving further away. Suddenly it stopped, and he found himself well away from the trail, surrounded by a pack of coyotes encroaching on him.
He ended up having to draw his dog close to his side, and retraced his steps back to the trail with the coyotes always following him, staying only a handful of feet away. Eventually he made it back to a well lit area and the coyotes receded, and he booked it home with his dog.
So, based on this, I conclude that coyotes can be very, very creepy. But they're probably not dangerous per se (at least to grown dudes).

I'd worry more about some tattoed ###### in an Ed Hardy shirt and his two off leash pitt bulls.

I've seen them and heard them in conferderation, nose hill and shouldice parks. I agree that mostly they're just creepy. Sometimes I've been followed, like a hundred metres or so behind, and seen a couple watching me. I've never actually been confronted, or felt threatened by an individual or a pack of them. My impression is that they aren't dangerous to adult humans.

Any animal if cornered, threatened or hungry enough is a threat but in general coyotes are more curious and scared of us then we are of them.

We used to chase them through school fields while stumbling home from the bar. They are very skittish, but can be dangerous towards smaller dogs.
They are basically out there just trying to control the Hare situation.

There was a documentary out a while back about the proliferation of Coywolves (cross between coyotes and wolves) that have infiltrated some major urban centers in North America. Last I heard they were mostly in the east (Chicago, Toronto, etc.) but they were making their way west.
They are bigger than normal coyotes and often live and hunt in urban areas at night. As far as I know, there haven't been any human attacks. They mostly prey on rats and other urban animals (cats, dogs, raccoons, etc.)

After you take the picture, just throw the potato at them to scare them away

The key is to paint a tunnel onto a wall so that it looks like there's a road there, and then go a different way. That seems to distract them.
