Right, because Planet Earth wasn't insanely popular. They bought Top Gear off of Clarkson for a song, they made ridiculous money off of it, and sometimes acting like a dick has consequences. I'm sure BBC will be just fine.

20 minute tirade and then 30 seconds assault? If those numbers aren't exaggerated, this isn't a heat of the moment and instantly regretting a punch type moment. 30 seconds is a long time when it comes to throwing punches.

Oooo I do like Planet Earth.

Planet Earth and the News is all that the BBC is good for now

BTW, I don't actually think this will be the demise of the BBC or anything like that. I was just saying Top Gear was one of it's main products that actually generated good revenue and cultural relevance.

Perhaps all three could just become the presenters of the American version. They always have fun when they're Stateside.

Doubtful. BBC is still heavily involved with the US version.

Whatever they do, it'll have no official Top Gear ties... and no stig

I dont know how credible this is, but here you go:

Quote:
The Top Gear as we know it is dead with Jeremy Clarkson’s firing, and as further proof of that we have this leaked email to current and former staff from Executive Producer Andy Wilman confirming that he’s done with the BBC.
http://jalopnik.com/top-gears-head-p...ked-1694581344

And this from the comment section. I've never read Hammond's book so I cant comment on its authenticity.

Quote:
In Richard Hammond's book about his jet car crash, the point was made more than once that the core team of Andy, Jeremy, James, and Richard were united in the agreement that if one of them couldn't be part of the show, then the show as they represented it would end. They thought it was going to happen while Richard was lying in the hospital.

May and Hammond no longer work for the BBC.

Quote:
James May and Richard Hammond are out of contract with the BBC from midnight, after declining to sign new deals to present the next series of Top Gear.

The pair are now free agents, meaning rival broadcasters can approach them with job offers.

Hammond has tweeted that he is "not ready for retirement". May does not seem in a great hurry to find new employment.

Doesn't really surprise me. It's fascinating how those things sometimes go ... the BBC did the right thing, and still, they are the biggest losers in all of this. Hope the trio will wotk something out with Netflix now.

I wonder what they will do with all the segments they have filmed but haven't aired? I hope they don't get lost in all of this. My guess would be that they just get aired without the context they usually get.

TopGear.com has changed their website and removed the pictures of all 3 presenters.

Writing in his column in the Sunday Times, he has revealed he wants to star in another "car show" and admits there is no way back for him with Top Gear.
He said: "I have lost my baby but I shall create another.
"I don't know who the other parent will be or what the baby will look like, but I cannot sit around any more organising my photograph album.
"Let's stop being silly and pick up the pieces and start again ... I just know I'm going to do another car show."

Jeremy Clarkson is believed to be working on a "top secret" new project with former colleagues James May and Richard Hammond at Goodwood Racing Circuit.

The three were spotted in a hotel near the race track in West Sussex yesterday, having been seen out at dinner in a pub the night before.

Looks like something is brewing (to nobody's surprise)

Yeah, not surprising especially after Andy Wilman sort of quit, didnt quit and then actually quit. And his parting shot at the BBC:

Quote:
"[The BBC] hasn’t just lost a man who can hold viewers’ attention in front of a camera," Wilman said. "It’s lost a journalist who could use the discipline of print training to focus on what mattered and what didn’t; it’s lost an editorial genius who could look at an existing structure and then smash it up and reshape it in a blaze of light-bulb moments."

Basically saying what everybody already knows, it isnt about one or the other but the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.

Rumors are flying about Netflix picking up Clarkson and crew to produce a car show under the "House of Cars" banner.

Quote:
Ever since Jeremy Clarkson punched a producer in a row over steak, the future of Top Gear has been completely up in the air. The BBC appears to have distanced itself completely, leaving Clarkson and his co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond to speak to other broadcasters about creating a brand new motoring show. Over the past few weeks, it's been suggested that streaming giant Netflix is the favourite to pick up the trio, and today The Mirror has added more fuel to the fire after it reported that the new show already has a name: House of Cars.

Hopefully they'll finally do the La Ferrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 episode. But I guess they don't have the TG track anymore, so would have to do it somewhere else.
