Sept. 28-Oct. 1: Blue Jays vs. Orioles Series Thread
Toronto Blue Jays (90-65, conquering Kings of the post-season) vs. Baltimore Orioles (76-79, pack of losers led by their loser manager Buck Showalter)
Probable Starters:
Monday @5:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Marco Estrada, 13-8, 3.13 ERA; BAL: Chris Tillman ERA
Tuesday @11:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Marcus Stroman, 3-0, 1.89 ERA; BAL: Miguel Gonzalez, 9-11, 4.85 ERA
Wednesday @11:00 Mountain Time: TOR: R.A. Dickey, 11-11, 4.00 ERA; BAL: Kevin Gausman, 3-7, 4.49 ERA
Thursday @11:00 Mountain Time: TOR: David Price, 18-5, 2.45 ERA; BAL: TBD
I can't imagine there are many (any?) people left who think Josh Donaldson isn't the AL MVP. What more could the guy possibly do to seal his credentials? I'd imagine David Price is the front runner for the AL Cy Young as well ... and I still can't believe he's on our team!
The Jays are going back to the post-season and while I'm thrilled beyond belief, the Wild Card game just kind of feels 'meh' at this point. I think my true celebration (and perhaps man-tears) will come when they clinch the AL East pennant away from the stinkin' Yankees. With a magic number of 4, it could theoretically happen tomorrow.
Don't know what else to say, really! Playoff baseball!

Just looking at some advanced stats for fun this morning and this really is quite impressive. Especially Kevin Pillar. Jays have 5 players in the top 30 for AL WAR.
1. Donaldson 8.5
15. Bautista 4.2
18. Encarnacion 4.0
22. Pillar 3.8
28. Martin 3.2
What an incredible achievement that is for Pillar. From 32nd round pick and buried behind Pompey to start the season to the 22nd most valuable position player in the AL.
Also of note, Martin made the list despite playing in only 125 games.

Encarnacion is also pretty impressive considering he doesn't play defense. That's amazing.

I still remember the days of E5 and people wanting Encarnacion DFA'ed, to be fair I was one of them at the time.
Oh how things have changed.

The Jays are tied with the Royals in standing. There'll be no let up in the final 7 games when home field advantage is at stake.

Well deserved. His bat was really hot at home and he had a few clutch hits.

He's still E5 at my house, but it's a term of endearment.

I have a gut feeling that JoeyBats and Edwing is still saving their best for the playoffs and that we haven't seen their "beastmode" yet.

I saw the other day that there are 10 players in all of MLB with a 900 or better OPS.
3 of them are on the Jays, as Donaldson, Bautista, and Encarnacion were all in the top 9.
Seriously where would Devin Travis fit into this lineup? Goins glove almost makes him a guy you have to play at second at least against righties. The way Travis was hitting you would take that production at 1st base, but he's not exactly your prototypical first baseman.
No doubt with Tulowitzky in the mix, it's a pretty formidable lineup. Really they've hung in there really well the past two weeks without Tulowitzky too. Russ Martin started hitting again.

I've been watching the debate and flipping to the game once in a while. Saw the nice catch Revere made that inning. Such a nice pick up for the Jays.

Not much to say about the game today. They haven't done anything outside of EE's home run.

I thought the Jays would throttle this guy, but it's just not happening tonight. Oh well, they're still within striking distance.
