Sept. 10-13: Blue Jays vs. Yankees Series Thread
Toronto Blue Jays (79-60, conquering Kings of the universe) vs. New Boo York Yankees (77-61, I hate them so much)
Probable Starters:
Thursday @5:00 Mountain Time: TOR: David Price, 14-5, 2.43 ERA; NYY: Luis Severino, 3-2, 2.04 ERA
Friday @5:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Marco Estrada, 12-8, 3.18 ERA; NYY: TBD
Saturday @11:00 Mountain Time: TOR: Marcus Stroman, 0-0, no ERA; NYY: TBD
Sunday @11:00 Mountain Time: TOR: R.A. Dickey, 10-10, 4.01 ERA; NYY: TBD
The series against Boston definitely did not go as planned, but hey, the Yankees lost 2 against the Orioles so the damage is minimized. Every day that passes where they don't gain ground on the Jays makes it less and less likely that they will be able to catch our team. They've lost a couple of huge players over the past couple of weeks, including Nathan Eovaldi who has to be considered their ace at this point, with elbow inflammation. Mark Teixeira is out as well and it sounds unlikely that he'll return this season.
On the Jays side of things, well, obviously we're all looking forward to seeing what Marcus Stroman can do on Saturday. From where I'm sitting, it's tremendously unlikely that he unseats Marco Estrada in a potential playoff rotation, though you never know. And you have to think Drew Hutchison has made his last start of the season for the Jays. What a terrible season from a guy who many (including myself, in the interest of full disclosure) thought was set for a huge breakout season.
Anyone think we'll see Russ Martin batting further down the lineup sometime soon? I know he's hurt right now, but man, the guy is almost an automatic out at this point.
Stats Time!
Over his career, current Yankees hitters have the following stats vs. David Price: 312 AB, 81 H, 8 HR, 73 K, 0.260 AVG, 0.323 OBP, 0.420 SLG, 0.742 OPS
Over his career, current Yankees hitters have the following stats vs. Marco Estrada: 102 AB, 25 H, 6 HR, 19 K, 0.245 AVG, 0.313 OBP, 0.461 SLG, 0.773 OPS
Over his career, current Yankees hitters have the following stats vs. Marcus Stroman: 46 AB, 7 H, 2 HR, 12 K, 0.152 AVG, 0.235 OBP, 0.304 SLG, 0.540 OPS
Over his career, current Yankees hitters have the following stats vs. R.A. Dickey: 245 AB, 55 H, 6 HR, 43 K, 0.224 AVG, 0.277 OBP, 0.351 SLG, 0.628 OPS
Over their careers, current Blue Jays hitters have the following stats vs. Luis Severino: 21 AB, 5 H, 1 HR, 9 K, 0.238 AVG, 0.333 OBP, 0.429 SLG, 0.762 OPS

I am hoping for a split at this point 3 of 4 would be awesome but at this point to kill 4 more of the head to heads games and still be up 1.5 games would be huge.
If the bats heat up again and we quit hitting it right at people would be great... Yeah.

Jays are in a position to really put a stranglehold on the division.
We can be 5.5 games up when this is done, and that would all but seal it.
Worst case is we are down 2.5 and then it's an uphill battle.
I love this!

apparently the game tonight could be rained out.
Too bad if it does, would have been a great pitching dual tonight.

Why don't the Yankees know who's pitching? Don't they still have several starters to choose from?
