Flames vs Sabres - 12:00 - SNet-W
Early game I almost forgot about, sorry no write-up by me today. Battle of the GM Searchers.
Go Flames.

looks like Buffalo's going to wear their god-awful third jerseys today ( http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=692562). That in itself is a reason to skip the game.
Go Flames.

Was really hoping this one was gonna be a later one so i could watch it at the airport, oh well. More incentive to finish my exam quickly and get home i guess. Gonna predict a rare >1 goal differential and say 3-1 Flames. Goals by backlund, russel, stemp

There's never a bad time for hockey. I wish all Saturdays and Sundays had hockey at this time.
I'm gonna predict a 5-3 Flames win.

Sean Monahan was 17 months old the last time the Flames won in Buffalo. Morgan Klimchuk had just turned 1.
The last time the Flames picked up a win in Buffalo was March 15, 1996. The Sabres were playing their final season in the old Memorial Auditorium. The Flames have never won in the First Niagara Center (or the HSBC Arena, or the Marine Midland Arena). It was so long ago, Ted Nolan was the Sabres coach.
As awful as the Flames have been this year, the Sabres have been much worse. They have one regulation win at home this season.
If there was ever a time for the Flames to win in that building, it's today.

I prefer a 5PM start. Not too bad for any folks out east and not too early for the locals.

Blame CBC and their 5pm MST exclusivity. This is the only 2pm ET home start for the Sabres this season, so they're not like some teams who regularly have weekend matinee games.
One good thing about the new Rogers deal is that we should stop seeing these too early games next season.

Going to the game - and given the Sabres' start and the snowstorm blowing through the area, I may be the only one there.

Sure there is. Hockey is a night game. Not an afternoon sport. This isn't football. I love Saturday night games.

3-0 Flames. Ramo with the shutout AND a hat trick.

The Flames are 1-0-1 (tie, not OT loss) in Buffalo facing a Sabres team coached by Ted Nolan.

Wow... I didn't think he was that close?
Also thought it would make more sense to scratch Byron, unless they plan on playing Monahan on the wing until he's back in game shape.

It's a pre-Christmas miracle! I wasn't even sure if he was on the trip.
