As a newbie to single malts who has just finished the last drop of his Forty Creek blended Whiskey, which of the above should I purchase this weekend?

Ok, so for someone new to scotch, who's just discovering their tastes, what would you guy's recommend between the Glenlivet 15 and the Laphrohaig Quarter Cask?

Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a nice young Scotch for those that like the rough taste of young Islay malts. Similar to the classic Laphroaig 10 in taste, it is even younger; thus, a bit rougher and saltier. Good value for money.....

Glenlivit is easy and smooth. Quarter Cask is like drinking a campfire. I love it but not everyone does. If you want something easy go with the Glenlivit. I used to always drink Glenlivit 15 until I tried a Bowmore 12. Once I had that I was hooked on the smoke/peat.

For those of you into Laphroaig, I have a strongly urge you to head to the Society@Kensington wine mart. Get yourself a bottle of 29.131 (Buttercups, Bothies, BBQs). I'm not sure how they charge non-members, but I paid a reasonable $130ish for the bottle.
This is the most amazing Laphroaig I have ever had. It is a cask strength, but the peat is somewhat subdued with a buttery caramel finish. Most delightful Laphroaig I have ever tasted.

I'm having a trashy it was a stressful week at work night. Where I get home look at the nice scotch on my bar and grab a bottle of jack no ice.
I might be making some really unique posts later tonight extolling my wisdom on the unsuspecting masses.

Picked up the Laphroaig QC tonight and wow! There is a lot going on with that whisky. I am still really new to this, but I can appreciate that it's more complex than the others I have tried.
I liked the peaty, smoky smell and taste.

Just called in and, yeah, you have to be a member (officially anyways - they do sell the odd bottle to store regulars who are not members). They may have a bottle at the society partner bar just down the street - the brasserie (sp?) if you're looking to try it. Alternatively, if you're really curious, I have 2 bottles and don't mind pouring a glass for fellow whiskey drinkers.

Hell, for that price you should come on over and we can shoot some Wild Turkey.

I HIGHLY recommend the Tomatin 18. And that price is a wholesale price.

Alright, I'm just going to throw this out there. How about a CP scotch tasting/meet-up? I'm not sure about where to have it, and I'm not sure I would volunteer for that, but I will help organize. Essentially what I'm thinking is that everyone who wants to come brings a bottle and we all sample each others wares. I also don't want to have any liability for stupidity or hilarity that might result!
So, who's in? Like I say I will brainstorm a location and we can just set a time that works for some people (it won't work for everyone of course, but if we have one successful tasting, there could be more to follow!)

Yes.
I'd be willing to host, but I'm likely too far out of the way for that to be feasible.
