Icon39 Craig Cunningham Collapses

Tucson Roadrunners (Coyotes affiliate) captain Craig Cunningham just collapsed during warmups before their game. Mostly a tweener with some NHL experience.

I always hate hearing about these situations. Wish the best for him and hopefully nothing serious.

Oh man. A Kootenay kid from Trail. Really hope he's ok. That's scary.

Convulsions and chest compressions on the ice? Jesus. That sounds awful. I hope he is ok.

I played with both him and his older brother Ryan for a few years until he got really, really good. I haven't talked to him personally in years but I see Ryan pretty much every day at work. I'm actually really worried for him and his family.

Statement from the team:
“Arizona Coyotes center Craig Cunningham suffered a medical emergency on the ice prior to the start of tonight’s game between the Tucson Roadrunners and the Manitoba Moose at the Tucson Convention Center. Cunningham was taken to a local hospital where he is receiving medical treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with Craig and his family. We will provide a medical update once we receive more information.”

I don't know what to make of that. On one hand, it sounds like he is still receiving treatment - on the other hand the vagueness of it, and the fact that aren't saying anything about what condition he is in - scares me.

I read the statement the same way Jiri.

This is scary. Thoughts are with the family.

My understanding this morning is Craig Cunningham is in critical condition after apparently suffering heart attack, has his Mom by his side.

Local speculation, but a friend of a friend etc etc says he has been placed in a medically induced coma to help alleviate stress on his body. No confirmation or anything though.

If it is being declared an arrest (assumed as they did chest compressions) they are usually cooled and sedated for at least a day. Sort of as expected
