tapping up happened. Pretty sure that happens all the time, but Liverpool maybe crossed a line or something.
not the first time this has happened either. Liverpool had to issue a similar apology a few years ago when Fulham filed a complaint because of Pool allegedly tapping up Clint Dempsey.

Maybe its an organizational policy. Tapping up is just part of the game.

Hope Southampton still press charges or at the very least other clubs insist the FA should still be investigating it given that Liverpool basically plead guilty already.
*edit* Actually this might be Liverpool's Wenger nearly tactic. We had him lined up, were just about to pull the trigger at 60M, 200k/week. Then .....

It's common place but I was wrong yesterday saying Southampton should let it go, every Journo is saying Liverpool still went over the line, 2nd time too and doesn't look good for the club
also think Southampton might have bit the hand that fed them though, not sure who else is going to pay that much money for an unsettled player who is a good CB but is he top 10 in England even?

^It's commonplace but normally done through agents.
Apparenty Klopp was texting him. And they met in person in Blackpool.
Photographic evidence of this.
Is Klopp just completely stupid or reckless?
And that statement? They could be sinking themselves.

Southampton have not dropped complaint to Premier League. PL not involved in discussions today and not decided yet whether to investigate

I believe in the Jays.

I wonder if City or Chelsea go back in for van Dijk now. I get why Southampton would be so pissed off, but it seems stupid to scare off one of the few clubs in the world willing to pay that price, and also burn bridges with the player at the same time.
I can't wrap my head around why Liverpool would leak the info of the tampering though, did an individual at the club just give into the desire to be the first to break the news? There was really no reason for the club to leak the info, and now we look like idiots.
Very strange all around.

Both Telegraph and Marca report that Morata has told Madrid that he wants to move and that he has an agreement with United. Fee hasn't been agreed yet but with United already bidding close to €65m it should be a matter of time.
Meanwhile Zlatan is not on the retained list. He's a free agent.

Reports in Spain say Morata to United for €73m is done. 5 year deal.
Delighted with this, despite the ridiculous fee. Wonderful striker, should be a good fit at United. Has played well alongside Pogba at Juventus before, too.

United will also sign Swedish centre back Victor Lindelöf from Benfica for an initial €35m next week, according to Mourinhos mouthpiece Duncan Castles.
Very happy with that, should form a good partnership with Bailly. Finalizing both Morata and Lindelöf next week would be a solid start to the summer.

wow, that was quick.
Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms.
A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete.

Only concern, is when Benzema moves on, and Real comes hollering back for him. I'd love to get 5 years out of him.

Lindelof fits well with Bailly, what he lacks in physicals and prowess in the air, Bailly has that strength, but he's good with the ball where Bailly isn't
Haven't seen a lot of him but he has seemed like a bigger and more athletic version of what blind was playing at cb
Could see that pair together for the next 5-6 years if Lindelof works out

Also even if he doesn't, 30m isn't a huge outlay nowadays for the big clubs
If he struggles sell him to someone for 20m in a few years

I imagine you meant, in other news Mbappe will be signed by RM. Otherwise, what a weird reference.
Naive, to ever imagine RM won't come after a high performer, especially a Madrid native.

So I was reading this and....while intriguing its also batcrap nuts.
Quote:
Tottenham is the proud owner of the most expensive duo in football, according to a recent sturdy.
The CIES Football Observatory published an extensive list of the estimated value of world's most expensive footballers, with the Spurs duo trailing just Neymar of Barcelona on a chart that also has the world's most expensive player, Paul Pogba, ranked seventh in the world in terms of value.
According to the study, Kane and Alli's combined worth of €308 million (£272 million) comfortably surpasses two of the sport's most iconic stars, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose combined value comes in at €253 million (£223 million).

Forgetting all partisan Club support for a moment, just the numbers alone are outrageous.
Anyways, make of it what you will, interesting study but I dont think it holds a lot of water.

Well the values there are basically made up. I mean didn't you guys just pay for Salah and the rumoured price is $20m less than what they have there or something like that? It's basically just someone hoping for clicks.
