Due to the announcement of the 225 coming on Sunday I find myself unable to focus on anything else.

A 225? THE 225. There is only one of these bad-boys in the world. This is very, very cool news.

You bet, I have waited for this moment to come for way too many years!
I'm running through possible photo spots in my head, I am assuming that they will have to use runway 16/34 even if the winds are out of the west. I just don't see that monster being comfortable landing on the shorter 10/28.
There is no doubt that a large contingent of the YYC spotters will be out for this one!

Yes I know! Unfortunately, being in stupid Ottawa I can't see it, or else I'll be there to watch it!

I sent a tweet to the airport twitter account asking why the stop in YYC. Haven't heard back from them yet. It could be something as simple as a fuel stop, but the 6 hour layover would suggest more than that.

Interestingly, the unidentified order for two 777-300ER from Boeing announced last August has been identified as an Air Canada order. (From the Boeing orders and deliveries page, search August 2011).
I'm very interested to see what 333 routes get an upgauge. I'm hoping for YYC-FRA after the Lufthansa pullout.

I am currently in Quito, Ecuador doing some work for the Air Force on their Twin Otters. Lots of cool aviation stuff in this album.

Sweet, I lived right near that airport when I was a kid. Back then the national airline, Equatoriana had 6(?) Boeings that had the most amazing mural paint jobs. All the planes were different. Very cool.
Just as we were leaving they switched to this scheme.

Flying from LA to Melbourne last week we flew on an A380. Before that, the largest plane I had ever flown in was a 737 so this was a huge step up. Really comfy, nice plane and airline. They have a camera on the vertical stabilizer which was great to watch the landing. That's all my neato cool story bro experience of planes.
