Kylington absolutely takes less risks than he used to. Even tonight, on his two big mistakes, neither or them were him trying to do something he can't. He simply bobbled the puck both times. Before, he'd make mistakes where he would go for skate then end up 1 on 4, give it away and then be caught for an odd man rush, or else he'd be trying to make his short passes in the d-zone too fancy and they'd get picked off. I've watched over 20 games this season and I would say Kylington's mistakes are due to his undeveloped puck handling, lack of strength (he falls down a lot, and rarely wins physical battles), and most worryingly, lack of poise. On top of this, I don't think he plays a very positionally sounds game. He's usually unavailable for teammates as a passing option off the rush and he gets caught napping on too many 2 on 1s against.
However, he has displayed great offensive talent and is a great puck distributor when he has time (PP qb'ing and no forecheck breakouts). He lacks polish and it will be up to his coaches and his own commitment to self-improvement to turn him into the top 4 defenseman that I know he can be.
