And from Steinberg’s twitter account, here’s a pic of the penalties handed out in the game:
First of, Kesler hacks at Frolik and Frolik gets him back. Then even before Frolik was ready, Kesler drops his gloves and throws a suckerpunch that luckily didn’t land. So my question is, what the eff were the refs watching? How on earth do you give them coincidental slashing penalties and 10 minute misconducts. My goodness the reffing is atrocious. Wideman wasn’t even playing in the game, feel free to pay attention next time Brad Watson and Ian Walsh, you morons.

It was a shameful display by the stripes. They should go eat another donut. If I'm Burke today I'm calling and ripping the refs/NHL a new one. I'll even go to the media and take the fine.
Manson doesn't get a instigator for going after Giordano, but Bartkowski does for going after a Holzer, who did not get a penalty for charging and attempted to take Tkachuk's head off, Frolik takes about 3 or 4 slashes from kesler who drops his gloves, but gets the extra penalty. Does any of the buffoons at the NHL ever go over the games to see the incompetence?

Nope, they don't. This is the big issue, the NHL does not have anything in place to hold their officials responsible.
Brad Watson is usually a good official, as far as officials go, but he is pretty bad for holding grudges against certain guys (Prust and him, for example). Last night he was right in the middle of things and at it with the Flames bench a couple times. Disappointing as you expect better out of him. Maybe he has it out for the Flames for Wideman and/or other reasons.
Ian Walsh is just a crappy official. He's one of those guys who has been around seemingly forever but rarely makes the playoff officiating crews. Mark Cuban, in the NBA, questions the existence of guys like Walsh: If they are among the most experienced officials yet are never good enough to get elected to the playoffs, why are they still employed?

I think someone should create an ongoing thread where we can put all the ref BS calls and videos into. I am sure multiple instances could be added each game and it seems like there are lots of folks on this board that have interest in these officiating short comings. I think it could be similarily comedic as the E=NG thread. Just my 2-cents.

I was actually thinking of starting a website that focuses on NHL officiating and the blown calls every night around the NHL. My initial thought was maybe it would capture the eyes of the NHL and they might finally do something. My next thought was the realization that they would just have the website shut down instead.

Maybe it's time for Hunter Smith and Keegan Kanzig to make an appearance. Too bad they are limited on recalls. I would have had one of them or both on the bench last night and sent messages all night.

I think that's exactly what would happen. If it was a sticked post on r/hockey though they may have a harder time.
Frolik and Kesler slashed each other prior to clutching and grabbing. Kesler lost his gloves and Frolik is lucky he didn't get a second penalty for punching Kesler's knuckles with his helmet. That is what the refs saw. You can't win games when you battle two opponents. The NHL back the refs everytime.
