As far as Oiler fan trolls go, Toewsfan is certainly an overachiever.

Not sure what people are so upset about.

This has 5-star thread written all over it.

Writing "FIVE STAR THREAD!!!" on a thread does not count for any actual stars.

People don't like your thread because it is terrible.

Oilers do not really have a psychological advantage over Anaheim. What I was trying to say is that they had an advantage over the Flames when playing the Ducks, as I did not think the FLames believe themselves that they could defeat Anaheim, while the Oilers do.

Well I for one happen to agree with the OP.

The Oilers beat the Ducks in 2006, when they were eighth seed and not expected to do so, and when the Ducks were a powerful team. In fact, the Ducks went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2007.

I am sure someone in the Oilers dressing room has made the analogy that "if we beat the Ducks when they were in their prime and on the cusp of winning the Cup, we can beat them now when many of the Ducks glory years are in their past."

The Flames play tentative against the Ducks, they play scared, and they get off their game plan in a hurry. Sure we got bad goal keeping but I think part is psychological too as well as not getting great leadership from GG.

And some of you should keep in mind that there is a person behind your computer screen. It is possible to disagree with a poster without mocking them or acting like internet bullies.

But which Oilers that are currently on the team are part of the "we" that beat them in 2006?
In case you're not sure, the answer is absolutely none.

In fact, a very brief scan of their roster suggests that only Hendricks, Fayne, Russell, Sekera and Pouliot were even drafted then.

You realize the Ducks were the 6 seed in 2006 and far from a powerhouse. They acquired Probger that summer that put them over the top to Cup Champ in 07. Your theory there is pretty bunk

How many players are left from that incarnation of the Oilers?

We have not beat the Ducks in nearly 10 years and 30 games.

How many Ducks or Flames are left from 10 years ago? Yet the Flames still can't get that monkey off their back.

There definitely is some psychological factor as well.

No. There is not. Nothing even close to the headspace that the Calgary Flames suffer from the Ducks.

Unlike the Flames, the Ducks have beaten the Oilers 13 times in their last 19 games, including the narrow loss on Weds. The Oilers DO NOT hold any sort of psychological advantage over the Ducks.
