I think you might be right. I think we now know what is wrong with the Aves, their video/prep guy is horrible.

Hartley did have Colborne on the point of our PP for a couple games last season.
The cringe was strong.

That's what I thought and argued at the time, but I was proven wrong. Which almost NEVER happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 50 point season if he stays in Roy's good books.

Yeah, and it wouldnt matter.
Ultimately, Colborne didnt drive the play, he was at best an occasionally contributing passenger.

If Roy goes crazy, pulls a Hartley and hands him premium ice time and rolls him out on the PP non stop he probably will get close to 50. The Avs will not be a playoff team if that is the case though.

I can't believe Colborne wouldn't sign the same deal in Calgary (if you believe the rumors he wanted more money and term from the flames than he got from the Avs)

He would have been entitled to more money with the Flames due to his status as an RFA and the Flames (rightfully so) didn't think he was worth more.

All things being equal he probably would have, but once you put in a salary request and it's rejected, you go to FA and get another concrete offer, you take it because the relationship with the existing team has changed/diminished.
Personally I'm fine we're not paying Colborne 2.5.

If any team is dependent on Joe Coborne to make the playoffs they will not likely be a playoff team. He's a complementary player and it's likely he's going to be paired with more talented line mates in Colorado than he was in Calgary. It's all going to boil down to Roy as he's one of those coaches that always likes to keep a few players in his dog house so if he stays out he will get plenty of opportunity to exceed this season's stats.

Once the Flames failed to qualify him, he became UFA and could have signed with the Flames for the same deal the Avs offered him. Whether the Flames did or were even willing to offer what the Avs did is another question.

I think he is going to fall off the face of the earth this year. If he was a Flame I would have predicted a career year.

I'm not going to crap on Colborne.. Thought he was coming along nicely and still had a ton of potential. Wish him well in Colorado and if he keeps improving, I hope we take him back one day.

No way, seriously you went to high school with Joe Colborne, that's awesome AcGold. Were you in the same home room together? What was he like playing sports in gym? Was he on the school's basketball team? What high school was it again?
Diemenz did you have any follow up questions?
