It is a bit early but I've got a question about blowing out irrigation lines for winter.

I'm planning on setting up a 5 zone sprinkler system where the largest zone has 7 sprinkler heads on it. It'll require some patience to blow out one zone at a time but does anybody have a suggestion on which compressor to buy? I'm not familiar with compressors....nor irrigation for that matter.

So far this unit seems to be the best value but I'm not sure if it is capable enough: http://www.princessauto.com/pal/Elec...ssor/8474975.p

I've got a sprinkler system that I'd like looked at.

1. I broke a sprikler head and don't know anything about fixing (I stuffed the cracked pipe back in and it seems to function with some underground leaking
2. The covereage doesn't seem very good
3. I guess maybe this belongs with 2. Needs one or two more heads or sprinklers

That said, if I lived in my house without a system I'm doubtful I'd get one installed however with one I'm wondering if I should pay to get it working top notch. No idea what any of these things generally cost.

Thoughts?

I'd suggest pulling the entire sprinkler out and bringing it either to Eljay Irrigation or Regency Plumbing (South Calgary and North Calgary respectively) to see if they could sell you a replacement or possibly equivalent head.

If you can figure out what make it is, maybe it is something that you could call ahead about to ensure that they have in stock.

If you're new to this sort of thing (like me) bringing a few pictures with you probably help as well.

sorry, busy time of year and all and haven't had time to logon. Recommend pictures as well, it's pretty difficult to help you out if you come in asking for a "black sprinkler".

Bean, in terms of your compressor question, I have seen guys blow out systems with little pancake compressors. If anything you may just have to take extra time and cycle through the zones a couple times.
