A new character has been announced. A "Support Sniper" named Ana. The character looks like a blend of Widowmaker and McCree, with sniping, grenades and a sleep attack. She can shut down Ultimates, prevent healing on the other team briefly, and can cause a few seconds of stun/sleep. Seems...like a lot. Lore-wise, she's Pharah's mother.
"The big thing for Competitive Play is we're going to turn on one-hero limit, so players will not be able to stack more than one of the same hero within a Competitive match. It's not going to affect Quick Play at all, but it is something we're going to turn on for Competitive."
Uh no. The entire point of this game is to be able to switch heroes at any time in order to counter the enemy team.
Didn't say you'd be locked into your draft selection. If they institute a class or character limit it, who gets those heroes shouldn't be based on how fast you load the map.

Pff it's like you want to nullify my SSD investments.

Ah I see what you're saying. I'd be fine with something like that but it would slow down the game. I don't like the idea of banning heroes though.
Just had my best game ever... four gold medals, including most damage, and a play of the game as D.Va. Entirely thanks to an amazing healer.
I'm noticing that support are starting to get more props now in Comp play. I even managed to get a PotG as Mercy the other day (it was a pretty poor PotG, imo, but hey...it was my first, so I'll take it)

I've had two plays of the game with Mercy.
One was a quad-res.
The other was a late game triple-res, then damage buffing a Reaper who I just resurrected as he popped his ultimate and assisting on a triple kill. We won the game seconds after that.
It's fun being someone that actually knows how to use the character well -- there's some really poor Mercy players out there.
The Following User Says Thank You to OutOfTheCube For This Useful Post:
I have no idea if I am a good healer or not - probably not - but I do play Mercy about a third of the time as PUGs sometimes forget to pick support. Mostly I just try to stay relatively out of sight as I push heals or buffs on people. The hardest part is knowing when to keep heals on one target and let the ones rushing to their deaths die, and when to pop the res.

I've tried and tried and tried to get my quad rez achivement, but have been unable to. I was 1 second off in a game, where the "4 teammates down" warning popped up, and just as I hit my rez, it swapped to 2. There was some serious "Gawdammm....!!!!" on that one.
My PotG was a double rez then a boosted Ult (Hanzo) to win the game.

That's always a hard call. I try to keep the tank up, then whichever dmg dealer I can reach without putting myself or the group in too much trouble. I'm not leaving a pack of Rein, Sol76 and Reaper to go chasing after the dying Genji across the map, for instance.
I always show a preference to the teammates who try to keep me alive.

I find what separates a good Mercy player from an average one is knowing when to whip out that pistol and throw some damage down. It's actually not a terrible gun, quite accurate and decent range. I've saved my team's ass before because no one expects the Mercy to turn around and start firing.

There's also times when the best play is to stop healing your team, throw damage buffs around, let them die, then pop your rez.
