Yeah. What total nonsense at the end of the game.
So Terrence Ross makes a desperation 3-pointer to supposedly tie the game before the final buzzer. Then after that the officials apparently say that the time keeper didn't start the clock in time after the inbound pass as it was tipped. So that negates that last second game-tying shot???
Bull####!!!
Unbelievable. So yeah, penalize the players for a stupid timekeeper mistake. That's just wrong.
NBA Refs are no good.

Can they prove that Ross would not have shot the ball earlier if the clock was correct? He got the ball, he turned the corner and saw the shot clock, squared up, and shot it. Of course he could have gotten it off earlier (not necessarily as a make) had the clock been correct. On every inbounds play, it's left to the reaction time of the guy starting the clock, except when it's less than a second, where it's accepted that with about .5 left you have time to gather and shoot, and with .3 you can tip/deflect, and less than that it's impossible.
So now the home arena crew can just start the clock a fraction of a second late in these sitations every time to negate any buzzer-beater. Lovely job, NBA.

Maybe the clock got stopped late at the last whistle, did they go back and check that? Maybe there should have been more time remaining before that last play.

Fix was in / they go into OT and the over/under bet would have been affected / they literally made stuff up to end the game / defection does not even matter as Ross got the shot off with like .5 so it was stiil good

Patterson tweet suggests that there was actually 27.3 seconds left when the last timeout was called. So Raptors should have had 3.3 seconds to get off that last play, not 2.4.
(edit: actually from the time the ball was rebounded by Cousins after the missed foul shot, which is when the shot clock should reset.)

The Raptors have gone backwards this year / back to their treadmill days. Their defense is brutal and on offense they have nothing but pass to DD and everyone stands and watches. They will be lucky to return from this road trip above .500. MU you need to make a deal buddy and shakeup this lethargic team.

Take away the losses to the Kings and they've lost the other four games to teams with a combined record of 35-6, and all single digit losses in games they had a chance with 6 minutes to go. They're just mostly the same team as last year with DeMar doing more and Lowry doing less. I wouldn't say they've gone backwards much. They probably do need a trade, but not just to do one. Gotta get that PF but again, who is there to get without overpaying? Just gotta see how the season shakes down and then by All-Star break the landscape will make more sense for trades.

I still hate a lot of their shot selection. It is slightly better than last year, but not by much.

Except that scoring has little to do with it. They are right up there in scoring / 6th last time i looked / meanwhile they are 19th in defense. Giving up 105 pts per game. Last year they were fifth and giving up less than a 100 per game. Quite the dropoff and back to what they were like before last years dramatic defensive improvement.

They've been playing a lot of fast pace teams early this season, so both their scoring numbers and points allowed numbers are a little inflated. Their EFG% is 13th in the league, and up slightly from last year, while their opponent EFG% is 22nd and down slightly from last year.
It's difficult to tell what is a real trend and what's the result of small sample size, but it's interesting that opponents are taking a lot more 3s against them, while making them at a lower rate than last year (for a slight increase in points from 3 allowed). There's also a slight increase in fast-break points allowed, points in the paint allowed, offensive rebounds allowed. Just a bunch of small regressions that are adding up.
I do think the loss of assistant coach Greer counts for a lot. They're playing largely the same defensive schemes as last year, but not executing as well and perhaps not game-planning as well.

Looking much better tonight so far. Also Kevin Love had eight 3's and 34 points in the first quarter tonight...

Defense was better and they shared the ball better on offense. Heck JV even got to play in the 4th. Almost held them under 100.

Yeah, everyone looked good. Carroll looked as good as he has all season, Joseph was solid, DeRozan played within himself but was unstoppable in the third.

Just once I'd like to see GS go balls out after one of these crazy first halves and put up like 160. I get it, you would never play that way and you want to rest your top guys, but still it would be fun to watch.
