Default Carpets: Steam clean vs. Chem Dry?

Looking to get my carpets cleaned and the steam clean companies say they are better, the chem dry companies say they are better.

Anyone have any idea which is actually better? Is the Chem Dry 'baby safe'?

And if so approximately what did you pay?

I paid about $350 I think for a professionals to do my top floor steam cleaning. Truth be told, it was a fairly clean house to begin with but I just moved in so I wanted it done regardless.

I was happy with the result.

In the past I've had steam cleaning remove very tough stains from previous owners who wore shoes indoors.

Silly Americans and wearing shoes inside.

We used Aspen Clean, my wife doesn't like chemicals and all that so she liked that they were "natural". I'm not sure how true it is because I didn't care to argue, but the carpets came out clean so win win. https://www.aspenclean.com/carpet-cleaning-rates

^^ when I was selling my house in the States before moving back to Canada, we asked people who were viewing our house to take their shoes off when going up stairs because it was carpeted. People looked at us like we were the crazy ones.

Yeah Mr Stranger, no problem, just walk all over my house with your shoes that have been god knows where.
