I ate at the Evanston location last week and I honestly do not understand the hubbub. I found the chicken to be much too salty. Popeyes chicken is indeed crispy but so is Korean fried chicken (the other KFC) and KFC is not nearly as salty. I also tried the popcorn shrimp and that was disappointing too -- too much breading, very little shrimp. So I'm not sure if I will ever go to Popeye's again. My favorite fried chicken restaurant remains Mary Brown's. Plus, Mary Brown's has those awesome taters.

Korean chicken is the best prepared, least seasoned product in history.
Dammit Korean chicken places, you've cooked this so well, why is there no seasoning?!

The chicken strips, specifically the spicy chicken strips are the ones to get. Also the biscuits- I don't want to know how many calories are in them, but they are great.

Went for take out at the Evanston location today, no line-up and fast service.
Beats KFC by a mile, the biscuits and the spicy chicken were pretty good.

3 piece spicy, red beans & rice, and a biscuit. No other fast food chicken spot compares.
Korean fried, and your local broasted shops aren't necessarily the same market, IMO.

Went to the Evanston location last night. There was a lineup to the door but it went fairly quickly. Maybe because I'm not a big fried chicken guy I just didn't love it. Chicken was miles better than KFC but that's not a special achievement. Fries were about average for fast food as they were crispy but I didn't think they were overly spicy for cajun fries. One of my kids got onion rings and they were super soggy when we got home and not as good as A&W. Biscuits were tasty but not worth a trip. My youngest got the chicken strips and IMO those were the best thing of all as they were large, crispy and tasty. If you love fried chicken it's definitely a step up from Chicken on the Way and KFC but I'm more of a burger guy so I don't know if I would line up again for it.

I went last night (Friday) around 9 pm to the 17th Ave location. The place was still busy with a steady line-up on the inside and and steady line of cars doing the drive-thru. I wonder how much that place rakes in during a month.

This latte sipper is glad I am a 5 minute drive from cluck and cleaver. Got some fries and a lil clucker for $12. Money well spent. After reading reviews here I have no desire to drive to yop territory to have some average chicken. (I joke..sort of)
Doesn't the same company that owns Tims own popeyes? The profit over product cutthroat Brazilian company?

I wouldn't call Popeye's average. It's damn tasty chicken, but it's still a chain so if you go into it expecting it to rip the fabric of spacetime, you'll probably be disappointed.
That Brazilian company just bought it, so the time to try it is probably now, before they drive that product into the ground as well.

Hadn't seen it mentioned yet, but there was a sign out for another Popeye's to be built at McKnight and Aviation Blvd.

I searched "Popeyes.ca" and "Popeyes Canada" in DuckDuckGo and only got delicious chicken pictures.

If my eyes were not deceiving me as I drove past it appears they are putting in a location in Beacon Hill where the old ATB used to be (right by Costco). Building is being renovated and I thought I saw 'Louisiana Kitchen' signs in the window. Seems a bit odd given this is just up the road from the Evanston location.
