Flames with a ton of pressure on Makarov. They look good. Quick and most shots hitting the net.

Theissen also playing great. I will say nothing further as I am also a goalie and don't want to jinx him.

The physical side of the game is ramping up. Hopefully they don't explode again.

Reinhart with a quick move up the boards to get the puck to the net. Caused a defenceman to trip over himself.

Vause trying to get another buzzer beater goal and he was pretty near successful!

Hanowski and Larsson having a little shouting match now. Guess Larsson didn't like Hano and Vause trying to push the puck by the goalie.

Flames nearly scored again right before the intermission

End of 1st Period

2-0 Flames

Shots on Goal: 17-8 Flames

Hanowski with 4 SOG, Reid with 3 SOG. Those two essentially have the same total of shots in the 1st as the entire Amerks team.

I know. I feel like I need spoiler tags so I don't ruin anything for you.

Reinhart looks like he's stepped up and gotten quicker since leaving the Flames. He's had a great 1st period. I don't recall him being this quick in previous games.

No worries, I usually watch the games when they're over and frequently know the score before hand so it's not a big deal.

Huska on Wolf:

When he came back from the concussion, he improved greatly and earned staff's trust. He is getting PP time and PK time. They trust him 5 on 5 and will use him regularly. Always improving.

Huska on Reinhart:

Hope he comes back with an understand with what Calgary wants him to do to be a full time NHL'er. They want him to be a player they can look to in all situations.

Huska on Knight:

Loss of Knight is huge. They are so excited for him though. Hope he makes the Flames make a tough decision. Guys in room are happy for him and guys are seeing there are callups and its motivating them to play better to get that call up.

Huska on Ortio:

The swagger is back in his game. Bordering on cocky but he's at the point where he believes in himself and he can make the saves. Guys like playing in front of him. Knows he will make the save. Few flashy saves, but he plays to get the job done. Ortio got off to a rough start assuming he would get the bulk of the games. When Thiessen played well, put pressure on him and he had to learn to respond. Guys have a great relationship now.

PBP Q & A:

Who has the strangest pre-game ritual: Tousignant has to retape all his sticks between each period. He's got a few little things he has to do before games. He's really the only one that does anything "odd".

Orts relationship with new goalie coach: They have gelled well together now. Uses iPad to tape them to use that to teach them after the practice. The 3-some works very well in practice and seeing improvements as of late.

That Orts question was also mine. The guys don't seem to think the relationship with the goalie coach led to any of Orts issues early on in the season. Thinks it was more Dmen and such. Says the goalie coach is a young guy so him and Ortio get alot great and they use technology to try to improve the goalies games. Orts and Theissen have a great relationship with each other and goalie coach.

Wotherspoon unleashes that huge shot again. Twice actually. Makarov got both of them.

HOLY CRAP!

Wolf with an amazing shot on Makarov. That was a huge save by Makarov. I'm 100% a Flames fan, but that was a beautiful save by Makarov.
