Count yourself lucky. I have spun almost 800 stops since Gen 2 launch and still only one item. Have not found another stop that puts them out and forgot when I spun the one I got it from.

I still am at only 2 king's rocks. Neither of which I can use, because I do t have enough candies.

Nothing else, so I've never used an evolution item yet.

I've been playing since release, but a little more casually than some. I finally caught a Dragonite today though! Not crazy high CP or anything (I'm only level 24), but it was pretty strange to see such a rare pokemon pop up, as it seems like there aren't ever any rare pokemon anywhere near me.

It's not entirely random. Spun out my 5th sun stone today, from same pokestop at same time. I've spun 10 evolution items, all from same 2 pokestops. But only 3 different evolution items, so still need 3 more.

Evolved a Pineco into a Forrestress, damn what a cool looking thing.

Also got my second evolution item, a Dragon Scale. Evolved a Seadra into a Kingdra with that.

Finally got a Dragonite!

Turned on Pokemon Go as I was leaving work, and there was one at a nearby pokestop.

969 CP, 1/15 attack, 15/15 defense, 14/15 HP.
Dragon Tail / Hyperbeam.

As luck would have it, my 7 day streak was today. Downloaded the new APK (wasn't yet available in Play Store) and sure enough, got an evolution item.
Also as luck would have it, was my 5th metal coat lol.

It's not based on the new client, was a server side change. I am still 5 days away from my next 7 day chain. Arg.

That sucks man, it's bad when they flee after the first ball. I've also had times where I wasted my entire supply of ultra balls on one Dragonite and still wasn't able to catch it.

Seems really random sometimes. Just like the levels. I think my first Dragonite was only CP 24 when my friend right next to me had a CP 1220 when he was right next to me and the same level. Hope you find another one soon.

I'll get one eventually. Apparently Dratini spawn rates are higher now during this water event, so worst case i can try to catch a bunch and evolve one.

Also heard there are "shiny" magikarps. I'm guessing you can evolve it into a red gyarados.

It seems like all water pokemon have had their spawn rate increased, not just the ones listed.

Caught a Mantine and a Lanturn, and actually got a random Sunstone out of a pokestop to Evolve a Bellosom. Caught a couple of slowpokes and Poliwags, so should have Slowking and Politoad soon too. I just need one more slowpoke. Also, I caught 4 Magicarp or so, all with Pinap berries, down to about 180 candies needed for Gyarados. Perhaps I'll catch enough carp by the end of this event to have a Gyarados, and I'll probably have walked enough in a week to get my Kabutops, which would then complete my Gen 1 regional 'dex.

Came to the thread to see what was going on. Water types are everywhere. Some gen one I still needed to evolve (pollwhirl etc) are in abundance. Great time to that that Gyarados as magikarp are plentiful too.

Dratini definitely way higher. Usually about 3 - 5 out on the map I look at for Montréal. Right now there's about 50 out, plus 3 Gyarados. A red Gyarados would be pretty.
Anyway, all this would be great if I wasn't in Gander Newfoundland.
