That was one of the funniest articles I've read in a while.
TL;DR, Alberta would win by a landslide.
This part, when comparing air capabilities killed me. In reference to Sask being home of the snowbirds:
Quote:
While the squadron’s breathtaking aerobatic displays could boost the morale of an embattled Saskatchewan, a formation of unarmed CT-144 Tutors would be very little help in defence.

Alberta in a landslide...once we round up all the secret agents...
Easily identifiable though...They are the ones with Rider Bumper stickers.

Chances are they're going to push the decision off until after the next election. Then they'll decide on the plane, and here's my bet.
Lets say they do pick the F-35, I'll be shocked by ok. We want 88 F-35's.
And Lockheed will snicker and say, if you would have ordered these things years ago, you would have been at the front of the line, but now everyone else has ordered theirs, you're at the end.
I would be shocked if this time line isn't a might ambitious.
Or lets say that they decide on the Gripen E/F which is I believe their first test flight was last year.
So nowhere near looking at production.

Colin Kenny is taking early retirement from the Senate.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/libe...date-1.3783820
Quote:
The elder Trudeau appointed Kenny to the Senate in the spring of 1984 after he spent a decade as a special adviser and assistant principal secretary in the Prime Minister's Office.
The ensuring 34 years saw Kenny focus on military and security issues, becoming an outspoken critic of cuts to defence spending.
But his tenure was marked by testy exchanges when he headed the Senate's defence committee, the most memorable of which live online in videos capturing political bickering between Kenny and fellow senators.
More recently, questions were raised about his conduct in relation to the workers in his office. In 2014, a Senate-appointed investigator cleared Kenny on allegations of sexually and verbally harassing his office staff.
Two years ago, Kenny repaid more than $30,000 in expenses that were deemed unjustified after they were flagged in an auditor general's report on Senate spending.

F-35 revealed to be a horror movie.
https://www.duffelblog.com/2018/01/f...yamalan-movie/
In perhaps the most daring plot twist of his career, film director M. Night Shyamalan has revealed that the entire trillion dollar F-35 program is a horror movie he has been working on for the past decade, sources confirmed today.
“I really wanted to explore the depths of the military-industrial complex and the human psyche in an age of uncertainty,” said Shyamalan. “That, and I was pretty damn high when I wrote it.”

There were two dudes in my platoon here in Calgary in the early 90s that dated strippers that worked at that joint (can't remember the name) on 37th/Bow Trail. Lots of drama with those two. They both drove Firebirds they couldn't afford, too.

I forgot how great this site is.
Quote:
WASHINGTON — Following years of controversy surrounding the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship program, experts have deemed that the ship is, literally, a Figurative Combat Ship.
“It’s the best ‘combat ship’ fielded by any country in history,” said Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer, indicating air quotes around the words ‘combat ship.’ “Metaphorically speaking, of course.”
