Hughes really struggling.
I think that's ok though as I think him getting a lesson from the greens will be good for his long term development.

All I can think is that if they had US Open style rough at Augusta the winner might end up at +10. Course is absolutely brutal right now.

Wow, the officials and broadcast had the incorrect score for Garcia on 10 and the correction now moves him up to -2 and T2. They thought he was playing provisional ball on 10 when had in fact found his first ball.

Sergio has a hard enough time in majors with his propensity for choking, no need to make it even more difficult for him.

A thought came into my head today while watching The Masters. Why doesn't the PGA do a double cut for the Majors? Have a traditional cut line on Friday and do a second cut after Saturday so that the final round can really focus on the players that are still in contention or that can finish in the top 20 or so. This would also provide more of a time cushion for Majors that go into a playoff situation so that extra holes don't have to be played in dusk/dark.

Not exactly what you are talking about, but theres a little explanation at the bottom of that article that talks about the Tours ideal situation for attendance and ratings.

I'm the same way with Sergio. I'm looking forward to watching him self destruct this weekend. It would be awesome to see him lead at the start of the final round and lose the Major, maybe in a playoff.

Just to clarify as a lot of people dont really quite know this- the majors are not organized and controlled by the PGA tour. They are all official money events on the PGA tour, and various other international tours, but the the Master's is organized independently by themselves, the US open by the USGA, the Open by the R&A, and the PGA championship by the Professional Golf Association of America. Anyway, the point is each of these individual bodies would have to make that decision for their own tournaments. Technically speaking, the biggest PGA tour events are The Players Championship in May and the PGA tour playoffs.
All this also explains why golf nerds get mad why people think the PGA tour is analagous to professional international golf. Nah, it is just the biggest tour and attracts the best. Same sort of thing as NHL vs. international hockey.

Spieth is the easiest player to root against, his caddy is a massive ###### and he's the slowest player in the game.

Mickelson seems tired and/or distracted. I want to say that Spieth is looking to take control of this thing, but wonder if there is any baggage from last year's collapse? And as everyone has been saying all week, watch out for this Jon Rahm.

Excellent stuff from Justin Rose today. Posts a 5-under 67 with seven birdies.

Hoping they give us nice and easy Sunday pin placements so we have a shootout. Would love to see someone at -1 or even go out and shoot 65 or better and win the tournament.

Put money down on Lee Westwood at 70-1, so wouldn't mind seeing that. Also have money down on Rose at 28-1.

This is going to be an awesome Sunday. So many players can win this today; Rose, Fowler, Spieth, Moore, Hoffman and possibly even Schwartzel or maybe Pieters. Too bad my kid has a hockey year end party at 4 so I will probably miss the last few holes.

Would love to see Rose, Garcia, Fowler or Spieth win this thing. Even Ryan Moore wouldn't upset me too much.
No Charley Hoffman, please!

Hadwin in the featured early morning pairing on tsn2 today. He's with Oostheizen and getting full coverage.
Unfortunately, he's struggling. And boy is he slow...
