I don't see Arsenal selling Sanchez within the PL, unless its for like £80 million+. But he's worth whatever he's asking in wages so they should just pay the man since it costs obscene money for average players now.

You forgot to include the records in a couple of cup competitions that both teams partook in. Anyways...

History will record that in the 2016/17 season Tottenham had an utterly fantastic season (by their standards) and .... once again ... as is their norm .... won nothing. Zilch. NADA!

History will record that Utd had a terrible season (by their standards) and won 2 Trophies and then to cap it off

UEFA says. You guys should be rewarded for your achievements so we're going to recognize that you had a better season than Spurs (FACT) and put you in Pot 2 with City for the CL draw. Spurs and their crappy coefficient can go in Pot 3.

Nice to see you have gathered up your toys and taken me off ignore.

Two trophies? But Mourinho had all the guys hold up three fingers for the treble?!

Three if you want to count community shield.

That's about the same as you lot have won in the last ... probably 20 odd years.

The mirror reporting today that City are going to win the race for Virgil van Dijk by offering 60 mil and 200k per week. Its the mirror, so who knows, but holy S are City going crazy this summer. They'll be over 200 mil before the window even opens.

Don't think he's that good

Not even just the money, but for that level of team

I haven't watched him play much, but a lot of journalists/fans seem to think he's pretty close to being the best CB in the league.

Van Dijk is pretty good. I'd be more worried about his injury ... he hasn't played since January, so that's a risk.

-------------------------------

Carricks testimonial is about to start. Lots of great players out there today.

Manchester United '08 XI: Edwin van der Sar; Wes Brown, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra; Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes, Darren Fletcher, Ji-Sung Park, Ryan Giggs; Wayne Rooney. Bank: Gary Neville, Mikael Silvestre, Graeme Carrick, Owen Hargreaves, Louis Saha, Dimitar Berbatov.
Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson

Michael Carrick All-Star XI: Shay Given; Michel Salgado, Jamie Carragher, John Terry, Eric Abidal; Clarence Seedorf, Gaizka Mendieta, Marcos Senna; Damien Duff, Michael Owen, Robbie Keane. Bank: Alex Bruce, Joan Capdevila, Phil Neville, Richard Garcia, Trevor Sinclair, Eidur Gudjohnsen.
Manager: Harry Redknapp

Bit emotional seeing that 2008 group again (I believe only Ronaldo, Tevez, O'Shea, Nani and Anderson are missing). What a team that was.

Hazard breaks his ankle training with Belgium.

Probably the first injury of next season.

Word out of China is that former Newcastle midfielder Cheikh Tiote collapsed in training and died in hospital of a suspected heart attack.

He was only 30. Unreal stuff. Always liked him as a player, was a real no-nonsense destroyer and fancied a good tackle. RIP.

Very sad, only 30 years old.
Always shocking when a seemingly healthy, professional athlete dies in training/match.

Liverpool got him for that apparently. I can only think if he's worth that and we're selling Walker we must be getting 100m? The fees and wages are just insane. 200/wk for Van Dijk is ridiculous.

Id think van Dijk has a fair bit more value then Walker.

Still....£60M and £200k/Week is pretty steep...

It certainly is, but I doubt it will be that high when the final numbers roll in.

Either way, CB needed to be our biggest priority and it certainly looks like we are making it so. I hope the signing works out well if we can complete it.

Lots of reports now that Southampton think that Liverpools approach was illegal and a complaint with the league was filed. No intention of selling van Dijk, especially to Liverpool.

Translation: Up it to £70M and we're good.

probably. Good on them, being raided by Liverpool every summer must suck. And after Stones went for £50m they have every right to demand a huge fee for van Dijk.

If you're Liverpool it's kind of an investment in the future with Southampton: Buy a Southampton player, which gives the Saints the money to develop the next player Liverpool will buy. Basically funding your farm club.

I don't know, he's good and fine. But wouldn't that be a record for a defender at this point? I'm not even sure he's in the top ten in the league, honestly?
