Genie has a torn ligament in her ankle and won't be playing at the Nuremberg Cup and her French Open participation looks doubtful as well.

Don't look now but with the challenger win this week, Pospisil has vaulted 24 spots all that way up to #82.

Congrats to him for working his way back to the main tour for what should be the rest of the year now.

Looks like the coaching change to Mark Woodforde is really paying dividends. I still contend that Vasek can be a consistent top 50 player and the win in Busan should really give him confidence moving forward.

Both Diez and Polansky are out in Round 2.

Only Abanda left, she goes tomorrow.

He hasn't really shown the ability to beat players in the top 50 with any regularity for several years now so I would temper expectations. I'm hopeful with the hard-court/grass season coming he can move further up the ladder provided he plays a number of 250 tournaments.

There is no reason he can't sit somewhere in the 40-80 range based on talent alone, but I find it challenging to pinpoint where he's at since he hasn't been playing many elite tour players most of the year.

Milos into the semi-finals in Lyon with a 6-4 6-3 victory over Gastao Elias (Elias knocked off Delpo in his previous match). He will face the winner of Tomas Berdych and Gilles Simon in his semi-final match.

Draw is out for the French Open. Milos gets the horrible fortune of getting into Rafa's quarter so obviously tough to see him getting further than that. But Milos section looks very doable so a QF would be a solid result. Bottom half of the draw is brutal with Milos, Rafa, Novak, Thiem all in there. Andy with on paper an easy draw, but obviously nothing is easy with him right now.

Obviously with Genie's injury there are no expectations, I'll be surprised if she even plays and would probably be in her best interest to not risk further injury. Also Monf and Dustin Brown in the first round. Great match to have a ticket to obviously, should be fun.

Francoise Abanda has qualified for the French Open Main draw with a 63 62 win over Jang of Korea.

The qualifier spots in the draw are not bad at all. Only #14 Vesnina is a seeded opponent. We'll see in a few hours who she gets.

Bouchard's draw is not bad, Ozaki, Svestova, Keys is not bad for an unseeded player.

Milos dropped two straight tie-breakers to Berdych in the Lyon semi-final, oh well, next up Roland Garros.

Abanda has been placed in the draw. She plays French Wildcard Tessah Andrianjafitrimo. Say that 3 times!

Good opportunity as this girl is ranked 100 places below her.

Genie says she's going to try to play (she says the ankle is improving day-by-day).

I'm in Paris and have tickets for the first two days. The Bullring (court 1) tomorrow then the Annex courts for Monday. The court 1 matches are a little disappointing tomorrow but we do get to see Cibulkova in the final match on the court. It is blisteringly hot in Paris right now. Unusual for Roland Garros as it's normally cloudy and threatening rain. It was over 30 today and is supposed to be the same tomorrow and only a slight cooler Monday. Could be tough on the players if they get into a long first round match.

The morning was reasonable but the afternoon was wicked hot. The court side thermometer read 36 and the stands weren't much cooler, if any. Crazy hot. Court 1 witnessed two epic men's battles which bumped the main attraction of the day.

Spanish García-Lopez and Muller from Luxemberg got Court 1 off to a plodding start with their extremely long 3.5 hr 4 set tilt which the Spaniard won going 7-6 6-7 2 and 2. The first set was 90+ minutes with Lopez getting a hammy taped early on then what looked like a potentially bad ankle injury which he managed to walk off after the trainer looked at him. We also had two welcome but very short rain delays in that first set.

French hopeful Halys couldn't keep a strong first set up and ended up losing to Argentine Trungellitti.

The 150 people or so who lasted through those two sets saw 6th seed Cibulkova moved to Lenglen and then got a win by local Oceane Dodin over Italian Giorgi.

After 5 hours of the marathon first match, standing in line for food, the water fountain, some outer court action, and part of the 5 setter we were tired, hot, a bit burnt, and definitely puddles we decided to tap out and have strength for tomorrow.

Tomorrow in somewhat of a surprise, in the outer court cheap seats of court 2 we have three good matches: Our own 6th seed Raonic starts it off against Belgian Darcis, then 18 seed Bertens and the trifecta is complete with Gulbis vs 7th seed Cilic. On a day where Nadal and Djokovic takeover the Stadiums and The French occupy Court 1, everyone else gets pushed to the Annexes and those of us with cheap seats rejoice. We've been to RG twice before and the Annexes (outer courts) aren't always so full of top seeds but tomorrow looks to be a good day. In between we might get a shot at seeing Abanda on court 17.
