Hawks GM (Or)lovs a shot of Jagr
Reclusive Hawks GM Tilley emerged from his bunker, sweaty and disheveled, to announce a deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. After watching the Hawks get shut out three times in four games last week, GM Tilley decided to send out the ravens and try to jumpstart this team for a playoff push.
The deal breaks down as follows:
To Tampa Bay:
Matt Read
Trevor van Riemsdyk
Noah Juulsen
2017 1st round (Chi)
To Chicago:
Jaromir Jagr
Dmitri Orlov
2017 3rd round pick (70 or better)
2.5 mill in cheese
For Chicago the deal provides an upgrade both at forward and at defense. Jagr provides experience and offense to a forward group that now has a clear top six. Defensively, Orlov is an upgrade on little used Medvedev, but is still young enough to offset the loss of TvR. The loss of Juulsen and the 2017 1st are a steep price to upgrade from Read to Jagr, but a price I was begrudgingly willing to accept.
Thanks to Tampa for the civilized negotiations.
