I am not a fan of this schedule at all. Too many long homestands. 2 or 3 is fine, 5 gets grating.

10,000 fewer miles traveled for the Flames than last year.

Going to catch one of the STL/CHI games at the beginning of the season. Just have to decide if I want to drive down to STL or up to CHI.

That NY series of games is real tempting, now to convince the wife that she wants to visit NY in February

Is it possible that Flames have the fewest Travel miles of any Western team this season?
seems to be the case

Advantage of having the longer road trips and home stands.

My first thought when I saw the long road trips was: should mean fewer travel miles. Thanks for verifying. 10k is pretty significant.

That would be nice. How would that work just pay for the channel outright?

Pretty sure it would just be national games shown on any SN channels. Regional games are still blacked out. Can't remember exactly how it was worded though. Need to find the old thread about it.

Well if I was a national broadcaster in Canada that relied on revenue from advertising, I too would prioritize the team that has the biggest market and national following...

Kind of too bad to have 15 home games on the weekend as compared to 19 road games on the weekend.

The Habs also have the biggest national following.

Leafs almost have double the back-to-backs than Calgary! Leafs 18- Calgary 10.

Leafs always suck at back-to-backs.

The long homestands seem like they would be bad for season ticket holders. If I was a ST holder and had to go to 5 games in the span of 9 or so days I'd probably be pretty tired of it. I'm sure the family probably wouldn't like me spending so much time at the dome.

If I was a player I think I would really like this year's schedule. Instead of the two days at home and then two days on the road, and then back home, it's nice to know where you're going to be for a week at a time. I, like most people, would just prefer as few back to backs as possible. As a STH, I wish there were a few Friday and Sunday home stands, as opposed to the many Thursday and Saturday games.

In the big picture I think Friday and Sunday home games will generally be given preference to the Hitmen. Fridays and Saturdays home game dates from January on will usually given to the Roughnecks. This way the ownership group will maximize their revenue. Flames fans will still pay for Flames home games even if there were fewer Saturday games. Notice that there are 22 Flames home games in 2015. There are only three Flames Saturday home dates in those 22 home games.
