Larry Wilmore is brutal. Most the bits I've seen him do have been about his blackness etc. Which would be fine except he's just not that funny. I'm all for mixing up the Late Night TV scene with something other then 30-45 year old white guys but Wilmore brings a slighter sharper edge then Wayne Brady.
I agree. His bits are okay on paper but there's something really flat about his delivery. Whenever he's on the show sort of hits a lull.
I think Jason Jones, Samantha Bee or Assif Manvi would have been good replacements for different reasons. I can't see Wilmore carrying a show for very long on his own.

Agreed John Oliver has been great. I watch it every week. my only complaint is that it's not every day and not an hour long.
Jon Oliver signed on to do a limited number of 30 minute episodes with HBO to figure out the format with an option to extend to 60 minute episodes in the future

Too bad he couldn't just take over the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, because he's literally the only one I can think of that would kill it on that show. I'm setting myself up for disappointment with whoever they choose.

It's already been decided, Larry Wilmore is taking Colbert's slot with a show called The Minority Report. He was never one of the stronger correspondents on the daily show so I don't hold out much hope
But I wouldn't want Oliver taking it anyways, he gets a lot more freedom on HBO and since it's only once a week the quality is much higher
