The best part?

The flights will utilize the 787!

The last series in 2008 utilized the 757-200...

Looks like these will be the first Dreamliner visits to Alberta!

I expect these will be announced fairly soon by Travel Alberta as they are also involved once again.
Looks like the first 787 to come to YYC is going to be AeroMexico!

What a story in Alaska.

Mother treks through foggy Alaska night to guide rescuers to plane crash

Quote:
Melanie Coffee used a cell phone to call the on-call health aide for St. Mary's, population 500. Coffee, 25, made her way a half-mile across the slippery, sloping tundra and managed to find the town's landfill, where she met the search party of 40 to 50 villagers and calmly guided them on foot back to the crash site. For four people, including her 5-month-old boy, it was too late. They had died from their injuries.

Posted this in the cyber Monday thread, but I think it goes well here. This is a smoking deal, and this radio will pick up VHF Airband. $179 is the cheapest I have ever seen this receiver in 3 years. It is usually $300 +. And it looks so frikkin cool too. Cannot wait to use this thing when I am out camping this year.

WestJet finally got rid of the horrible "Care-Antee" special livery and replaced it with this Disney themed one, the WestJet Magic Plane:

I'm so excited to see this plane on the field. We should track it, Peter Max style.

Good thing I know that the easiest way to find your posts in a thread is to click the who posted, and then click the number beside your name. Otherwise, it would have been handy if you'd have posted the link in here. Pylon.

And now I'm back to sheepishly admit that I thought the thread was about 600 posts long. Not 14.

I have to say, the livery work on that plane is fantastic. I don't think I've seen a more complex paint job turn out so well on any other plane in service

That one's well done. Much better than that Alaska Airlines Cars Disneyland one.

It's far and away my favourite livery on a 737, before it'd been Southwest's plane with the Maryland flag on it.

Spoiler!

The detail is insane. Hopefully the weather gets better, it's supposed to fly YYC-MCO tomorrow departing at 10:05 as flight 1414, then turn and come back for a ~9:15 pm arrival. I will do my best to get a picture.

Apparently heavy paint jobs have quite an impact on fuel burn; so much so that some airlines are experimenting with different painting techniques and paint compositions. Can anyone comment on the impact of these specialty paint jobs?
