Babcock on Ramo, says the agent has a relationship with Lamoriello and the Leafs have been helping him rehab from his knee surgery..

Good for ramo. I hope a team like LA signs him. He's a decent goalie and I honestly wouldn't have been opposed to having him back here as a backup to Elliott if we didn't have Johnson.

My favorite Ramo memory was game 6 vs the Canucks in the Playoffs.
Hiller just let in 3 straight goals, and I was watching the Flames bench from the PL section of the dome. I could see Ramo tying his sick flo into a man bun / pony tail, and I knew right then and there he was getting the nod to go in net and replace Hiller.
And the rest is History.

Aren't there CBA rules against non contract players using facilities and practicing with a team?
Kinda like how the Riders got dinged for having extra non roster players?

Sooo...Andersen, Enroth, and Ramo all working out with the team. Sort of sucks that Ramo is going to be involved in yet another 3-headed goalie controversy.

I don't think so. Krahn practiced with the Flames for a bit in a similar situation I recall.

If teams need an extra goalie for practice they can bring anyone in, even without contract. I think the flames brought in a UofC goalie for a practice several years ago during the Kipper era, if memory serves no PTO was required for practice.
On another note many drafted players attend training camp and use facilities without a contract.

Never liked Ramo or Hiller for that matter but it's always a feel good story when players go through injuries and make their way to a new team where they are awarded another chance. I don't think he sticks in T.O. but I am sure he will be playing somewhere for at least 10-12 games this season.

He seems like a good guy and teammate. I hope he can get back to playing as long as it's not for the Flames.

Leafs have waived Enroth. Most likely will sign Ramo after he clears.

I'm told that Karri Ramo is close to getting medical clearance from his knee rehab.

Enroth has really fallen a long way.

I'm happy for Ramo. He was just starting to come around last season when he went down. Never quit on the team either. Hope he does well in Toronto.

Ramo nearly saved our season last year before he was injured. Seeing this team play defense now tells me that Ramo was not to blame for a lot of the poor results, but he's not an elite goaltender either.
I think he's going to have some similar problems in Toronto because they're pretty bad defensively. I wish the guy played on a team with decent defense so we can see what he's actually capable of.

Circle January 23rd on your calendars (or don't, I'm not the boss of you) as thats when the Flames visit the Leafs. I fully expect Ramo to start.

Neither Ramo no Ortio was "the problem" last year, just like Elliott isn't "the problem" this year. No, none of them were "the solution" the way Johnson has been, but anyone pretending goaltending with the exception of Jonas Hiller was the problem wasn't paying attention.

Ramo was always > Hiller and I never understood the decision to try to roll with Hiller. The eye test said Ramo.
Good luck to him in Toronto. Very nice guy, met him in Columbus after the game last year, he posed for a picture with my son, tussled his hair, chatted with him, then when he should have been walking out to the bus, instead went back to the dressing room, grabbed his baseball cap, brought it back out to my son and signed it too.

I was thinking this, but it's a bit of column A and a bit of column B with the Flames defence and goalies. The bad play of one derails the other, and it becomes a back and forth cycle of demoralization.
All of Elliot, Ramo, and Hiller habitually let in stinkers. Yes, the team in front of them was playing like crap defensively, but that doesn't excuse the poor goaltending. So much of goaltending is mental and it's the worst position to play IMO. You're expected to detach yourself mentally from what's going on in front of you and just play consistently, which is something that Elliott, Ramo, and Hiller just didn't do for the Flames.
The best example of detachment was Kipper. He almost always played great no matter how bad the team in front was. He didn't let goals against shake him. He just did the classic Kipper, lift up the helmet, drink water, and reset. It was very interesting how every time a goal was scored on Kipper, he pulled up his helmet and exposed his face to the players and the spectators. He always had a look of annoyance but never defeat.

Curse you! Now I miss Kipper again.
That guy was the best. I wish you could teach his attitude. I have no idea how he never let anything rattle him.
Unless that water bottle was full of 20 year old Scotch.

Didn't Marcoux make Kipper watch the replays on the Jumbotons as well.
