AEG, the world's leading sports and live entertainment company, has announced the following changes to the front office of the LA Kings hockey club. Luc Robitaille has been named club President and will now oversee all hockey and business operations, and Rob Blake has been named Vice President and General Manager, and will direct all day to day hockey operations for the organization.
In addition, Beckerman today announced Dean Lombardi, who has served as Kings President and General Manager since 2006, and Darryl Sutter, who has served as the club's Head Coach since 2011, have been relieved of their current duties.

He would do great in Winnipeg. Good lord, I hope they're not that smart.

When will teams learn that hiring ex-players into upper management fails so much more than it succeeds.

I believe in the Jays.

Don't know if Sutter would have wanted to stay through a rebuild (where that team is heading) so probably just as well in his case. He won't be out of work a second longer then he wants to be.
As far as Lombardi goes... good. Eff that guy

I thought that they might have been the first to go and beat Desjardins. To not make the playoffs with that roster is pretty glaring and on the GM side, if all you can get to supplement your playoff run is Bishop and Iginla when you know your on the hot seat, is asking to be let go

Wow! I wonder if Lombardi knew this was coming and that was part of what motivated the odd move for Bishop.

To be fair, those guys have been on the management side for a while, and were along for 2 cup rides. I agree, usually it does not work. But this is an ideal situation for both.

Sutter seems like a perfect fit for Winnipeg.

I heard that Darryl has a clause in his contract that if he is releaved of his coaching duties they not only have to pay him his remaining money, they also have to pay him an extra $2M on top. That Darryl is a pretty smart guy.

I understand Darryl surprisingly quite liked LA. I'm sure he will get offers but I wonder if he's going to want to go to another team/city. As for Lombardi I'm sure he will resurface but he wouldn't be a guy I would want running my team.

Huh? Dean Lombardi never played pro hockey. Plus he brought two cups to LA.
So really don't get what you're talking about here.

I think that's about Rob Blake taking over as GM with Luc Robitaille getting promoted as well.

That Kings job will be challenging for the incoming GM. Not a lot of roster flexibility there with all those long term deals. Maybe a new coach can inject a bit of life into the team but that's likely a short term thing as they are trending slowly down with few really good young prospects.
