The young girl from Stranger Things cancelled several appearances including Calgary Expo, which is probably a good thing. It's crazy how poised and adult she comes across in interviews. Reading her story it seems her parents sold everything in order to push her Hollywood dream. Hopefully she remains mature beyond her years and is the next Natalie Portman, and not the next.. Bobby Brown.

My kids wanted to see Eleven so they'll be disappointed. Todd McFarlane is a great get. I'm surprised he doesn't attend every year considering he was a Calgary native.

Not much activity here, people going to the Expo? Tickets are still widely available, all days all ages (4 day and individual day) here:

A lot of deluxe passes and even Celebrity Fast Passes on kijiji as well. Some with nice discounts too.

Tom Cavanag cancelled due to scheduling changes, but it looks like they've got Candice Patton taking his place.

I'm looking forward to the Capaldi panel, as well as Todd MacFarlane.

Thursday was really busy this year. It's bigger and starting earlier every year.

Let me know what the board game section looks like.

It's funny you mention that. Having been there yesterday and today, I heard that they are expecting about 20-25% less people than the last few years (They are expecting to top out around 80,000 or so this year) and I'd have to agree with them about that. The last couple of days have been 'quiet' days for the Expo, with roughly 25% less people than usual (in my unscientific observation).

I arrived on Friday at 12:30 to get in line for entrance to the Big 4. Got in the doors at 1, and then proceeded to stand in line for 4 hours for Todd McFarlane. Don't know if I would have done that if I realized it was going to take more than 1.5-2 hours. The guys with the fast passes just keep looping back to get 2 books signed at a time, while the gen pop line stood and watched them without moving for the first hour. Majorly frustrating.

It didn't seem as busy but maybe it's more spread out? Definitely not as busy as something like NYCC or SDCC. Or even a PAX.

The (tabletop) gaming areas seemed sparsely populated and pretty lame tbh.

Hordes of people "cosplaying" as Connor McJesus was pretty gross. Bunch of sweat pants and even some goof in an adult oilers onesie.

I'm ready for my Facebook feed to turn into shots of people with unrecognizable c-list celebrities they paid a fortune for.

Went to that panel...

Danielle Panabaker: Super-Fun and engaging. Funny and charming

Candice Patton: Kind of standoffish mannerisms and body language (Damn is she ever gorgeous IRL). She knows the source material (dropped comic book references that folk who just watch the show wouldn't get).

Garrett Wang: Super ####ing annoying as panel moderator. Just awful. It was the Flash panel... don't pepper us with stories from Voyager, if I wanted to hear them I'd go to the panel where you're the guest not the host.

Tom Cavanagh: Wish he'd been there... from what Patton & Panabaker were saying he sounds like a really fun guy on set.

I think they did well going into the agrodome thing. Left the Big 4 basement to be the primary foodcourt/board game area (last year they shared space with the video gaming section). Was it me or last year in the board game area, did they not have a wall of games you could try? This year it seemed most of the same games were out throughout the days. Did get to try Steampunk Rally, which I thought was a great game, but nothing else called out to me.

Hands down the worst part of the weekend was the slew of Edmontonians that made the trip. Those ugly jerseys were everywhere.

They're trying to get feedback about the expo on their facebook page. Fast Passes seem to be a big complaint if you didn't have one . . . so probably good if you had one? :P

One of the most recent posts is this gem:

More Garrett Wang for panels!!!
