CBC ended its ties with Ghomeshi earlier on Sunday, said spokesman Chuck Thompson.
"Information came to our attention recently that in CBC's judgment precludes us from continuing our relationship with Jian," Thompson told CBC News.
Thompson would not elaborate on how recently the CBC had discovered the information or what that information was.
"Whenever a decision is made to end a relationship with an employee, terms of separation are never disclosed," Thompson said.

What I have learned about @jianghomeshi after months of investigation will be reported responsibly as soon as possible. Patience please.
I'm neither a lawyer nor an HR professional, but IIRC you can't fire someone for having a drug addiction. Employers have to offer support and help the employee get clean.
Quote:
Even if an employee’s alcohol or drug habits affect their work performance, it is a lengthy, complicated and murky process to fire that worker, experts say.
If that staff member tells their employer they have an addiction, this is considered a protected disability under Canadian human rights laws.
The company cannot fire that staff member because they have a legal duty to accommodate them, and give them time to deal with the issue, said Janice Rubin, managing partner at employment law firm Rubin Thomlinson.
How much time, and how many second chances an employer is expected to give, varies on a case by case basis, she said.
It was the first thing that jumped to mind, but obviously I have no details.
I do remember the CBC threatening to fire Sook-Yin Lee for performing unsimulated sex in Shortbus, until public pressure forced them to back off, so it wouldn't necessarily be the first time that the CBC were trying to protect their public image.
Because what other personal issue would cause you to get fired?
It could be any number of things. Maybe he's about to be charged with a crime and the CBC is firing him proactively. Maybe he harassed a colleague. It could be any number of reasons, and we really won't know until more details are made public.

His father recently died, I had assumed his leave was related to that. Perhaps not. But drug issue is the last thing I'd assume, sheesh.

Any idea what happened here? The last I heard he was on a personal leave and now he parted ways with CBC and is suing them for $50M. No idea why he was let go.
