Maybe it's just because it's my job to keep track of airplanes, but I don't think the Malaysian crash is overblown. A huge airplane full of people has vanished without a trace in the year 2014. Yes, certain TV stations have done a poor job of covering it without dramatics, but it's a pretty big deal.

What's 21 days when it's potentially killing your coworker or neighbor?
Yeah it's excessive, but suck it up. That said, I didn't know she was tested a few times. Still... Surely she was near the end of the 21 days anyway and could suck up a week at home. It's not like it would kill her to do it...

For the CP 1%, yeah, that's affordable.
What about the rest of the CP middle, lower classes, and students? You think that missing 3 weeks of pay wouldn't be a big deal?
IMO, extremely reactionary quarantine period with ridiculous implications. You test negative, you don't show symptoms- it means you are not contagious and a threat to the public. Why should someone's rights be infringed upon because they were trying to help save others or had circumstantial contact?

Well this is scary. Apparently a woman, trying to escape Sierra Leone, took drugs to bring down a high fever so she could board a flight leaving the country to Belgium. She promptly vomits on the flight and everyone on the flight (crew included) goes ballistic.
Quote:
The CEO recounted to the four Ambassadors and delegation, the unfortunate incident that took place on Monday, November 3rd at the airport when a female passenger from Sierra Leone vomited as she alighted from the aircraft and experienced high fever. “This situation caused panic not only to our crew members, but also to the general public in Belgium when the news was aired by the local media. However, we thank God that the tests were carried out lasting six hours and proved negative”

Maybe flights should be suspended?

Texas now Ebola free. Both infected nurses have survived and 21 day exposure 'window' has concluded with no new cases.

Health officials in Calgary are testing a patient for Ebola among other illnesses, but they caution the risk is “extremely low” she has contracted the deadly, infectious disease.
The woman was admitted to Peter Lougheed Hospital Wednesday night, where health officials learned she had recently travelled to an Ebola-affected West African country.

With the precautions taken, I suspect this patient was bleeding from places that they shouldn't have been. Not influenza.

Or she had flu like symptoms and recently traveled to an area where Ebola is present...

Or it could be absolutely not related to Ebola whatsoever and people are making it into something just for the sake of making it into something.

I take it you didn't bother to listen to the presser Dr. Musto gave. Ebola has a 21 day incubation period before that stuff happens, so no that is not why they are doing this. The patient will be monitored over that time to be sure.

A fascinating article on Ebola recovery... aside from living in your testicles for months...it FREAKING lives in your eyeball and can actually change your eye color!
When Dr. Ian Crozier was released from Emory University Hospital in October after a long, brutal fight with Ebola that nearly ended his life, his medical team thought he was cured. But less than two months later, he was back at the hospital with fading sight, intense pain and soaring pressure in his left eye.
Test results were chilling: The inside of Dr. Crozier’s eye was teeming with Ebola.
