Default QOTD: Will Injuries at Center Send Flames tumbling?

Stajan was a great option on the third line.
Backlund was hobbled but likely the team's 1/2 or 2/1.
Colborne was leading the team in scoring (tied), and a great utility option for the above two.
Raymond leads the Flames in goal scoring.

Essentially 4 top 9 players and 3 top 6.

Can the suddenly young Flames get through Nashville and a 5 game road trip at .500?

I picked the 2nd option. It's kind of a scoring by committee team anyway so wins and losses will largely come down to overall team play and goaltending.

The defense and goaltending are going to have to carry this team for the next week or two (not that they already have, but will definitely have to kick it up a notch). Hopefully some energized Addy players are ready to go just like Jooris was.

Overall defensive team play drips when you remove 2 of the organizations to the centers

The only time last season this team looked worse was when Gio went down. I think they look better with the young guys in the line up. So I went with the last option.

I agree to some extent but I voted for the third option, .500 hockey as missing three centres is going to be tough.

I voted for the first option. I think centre is the most important position on the team and with our proven guys out I think the D is going to be stretched and relied on even more and it'll take it's toll on the entire team. Let's just consider ourselves lucky these are the only injuries because if both or even one of our goalies went down, I think we'd be pooched.

I think the injuries will have less impact on the team's fortunes than Hiller's inevitable regression to the mean will.

I chose the second option but I think we could be pleasantly surprised. Backlund has not been at his best while fighting his injury and Stajan has been solid but not anything amazing. Granlund and Ferland could have some fire in their bellies and be looking to prove something. I have low expectations but let's wait and see what they do. I'm excited.

Yes, but I expect that the two will likely coinside so I fully expect injuries to take the blunt of the blame.

If it wasn't for Granlund, I'd be concerned about the next stretch of games. But I'm not because he's NHL ready made.

NHL ready like Jooris or NHL ready like Backlund and Stajan?

Unless we get an injury to one of the top 2 D I think goaltending will keep the team a float with a slight slowing of the pace.

I am glad we get to see a few younger players enter the lineup so it will make watching the games a lot of fun still

Looks like Monahan gets the Edmonton special. Thrown into the fire at 19 cuz he's all we got atm.

Road trip is out east. They will win a lot of games simply because of the quality of competition.

Also, Raymond and Colborne won't be out too long. Probably make it back in the next couple games.

Raymond is listed as week to week just Like Backs. Some however have said this was just to get Jones on the roster and he's really day to day.

Not a big deal, but Monahan is actually 20.

I am looking forward to seeing what he does with added responsibility.

Granlund's definitely ahead of Jooris in terms of NHL quality. So I'll say closer to Backlund and Stajan than closer to Jooris.

I think we improved with Granlund taking Stajan's spot and obviously got worse with the Backlund and Colborne injury.

I like having young enthusiastic players in the line up and think we will improve from the extra energy they'll bring.
