Go for a Montreal Smoked meat and salad up at the Alumni Sports Longe....they have cheesy nachos and beer too. :-)

It's behind the Platinum Club.

Bring Wipes lol....but that applies mostly to my daughter who is under 8 and easily grossed out at public toilets.

Burger and a beer or two at the Drum & Monkey before hand. Pay the tab 1/2 hour before puck drop and stroll over. Since the switch to Budweiser I haven't been able to stomach the heroine beer anymore, so I hit up one of the bars for gin & tonics instead. They ain't cheap... but I can still function as a human the next day.

Arby's?!?! Casinos?!? I won't have you kids wasting your money like that!

But on a serious note, there is only one rule: no matter what happens, you NEVER leave until AFTER the '3 Stars'.

NEVER.

I never leave early....paid good money for them tickets damn it.

Tried to leave early once as I had my daughter with me, I think she was six but it was a 6:00 start game...we were bulging the envelope on bedtime and the Flames were down by a couple with 3-4 minutes left (?)...want to say Phoenix a couple years back (can't really remember) and it was the old boys club still so I had little faith.

We were in the tunnel and she asks where we are going, and I said home...it's getting late and the Flames never win these. She says no way she wants to stay for JC....couldn't convince her it wasn't happening tonight.

So we are on our way back and everyone in our section thinks she forgot something so they are looking around for mitts etc, I said we are good she just wants to watch the end.

Flames tie it with the goalie pulled and win in OT or shootout, can't remember. Half the section comes over to high five my daughter and give her dad the business, sorry long story and a repeat lol.....good dome memories.

The east side doors have way less of a security line up close to puck drop. Actually there's usually no line up at all there.

Before 6:00 you can usually find free parking on 11 or 12 avenue SE, north of the dome. If it's after 6:00, Ramsay has free spots, and it's a nice stroll along Scottsman Hill down to the dome.

At intermission it's quicker to go up to the press level to use the washroom, unless the game is against a Canadian team, then it's best to go outside.

I'll second the Drum and Monkey, they have good food for decent prices.

Second, drink the heroine beer, you will enjoy it.

Third, go to Ducky's for karaoke after with various randoms you meet at the game in your heroine beered state.

I drew a diagram a ways back that showed the ultimate Dome experience let me see if I can dig it up..

Ah yes here we are

Does this work for everyone? The two beer and nachos in a drink tray system is patent pending. It will basically make you feel like a professional waiter at an upscale restaurant as the drink tray allows for ease of movement and completely frees up another hand for whatever you need. I use it for gripping the rail depending on the amount of Heroine beer I have consumed already. Even the most drunk Flames faithful will have no problems navigating to their seat with this sure fire hit.

If your GF doesn't know much about hockey, choose 3-4 players and tell her each time when they're on and answer any other questions she may have specifically about them. Otherwise, she may be overwhelmed and lose interest as the night goes on. First things first, don't be jealous if she says Lance Bouma is handsome.

For instance, I would tell my GF who to watch every time Monahan or Gio hit the ice and point which player to follow. I'm sure you can do the same for Jooris, Gaudreau maybe even Brodie if you want. You can explain the other team and such at a basic level too, but I wouldn't go into explaining players from the opposing team unless asked specifically about one.

Don't go on and on about stats and don't go on and on about plays and other junk. It's too much to digest in one sitting. Save that after she has a few games under her belt.

Don't feel bad about saying stuff as basic as: Player X is a good player for us. Young and handsome. Player Y is our captain. He's old, but still awesome. He did a bad thing by hitting the other guy with his stick, so he's in the penalty box. It's seriously to your benefit she at least tolerates hockey. She doesn't have to love it, but you sure as hell don't want her to hate it.

Or combine the two and just call him "Monahandsome".

Loungeburger is overcrowded, lousy service and terrible food.

If you want to take her out for dinner first, go to La Vita E Bella on 12th.

Also, bring the girl some sort of blinders so that she doesn't have to be witness to the blatant sexuality and shameful acts on display during the tv time outs.
