Rankings

Gaudreau - if all goes well, first line winger, possible star

Wotherspoon - top 4 defenceman, good partner for someone who likes to rush

Granlund - 2nd or more probably 3rd line centre, LW.

Baertschi - tweener or Euro star

They are prospects though so surprises can happen.

Would be great if Granlund has enough success so it is impossible to send him back down. Seems like his skating, shooting and playmaking are NHL caliber, I think the only question mark will be his durability.

If Granlund shows he is here to stay this has to be Setoguchis last chance. He better hope he performs much better than he has shown with this opportunity or he will be the easy guy to hit the waiver wire on the way to Addy when Colborne/Raymond are ready to go.

Really excited to see what Granlund can bring.

This is going to have the added benefit for Gaudreau. Though he is doing very well defensively, if Hartley does wish to continue sheltering him, he can throw Glencross back with Backlund and have that line see the tough matchups, Raymond with Monahan and then Gaudreau with Granlund.

Granlund and his sniping ability (+ cerebral play and playmaking skills himself) with Gaudreau on his wing can be a treat to watch I think.

Johnny's a live wire - If he can't jumpstart Seto then we know guchi's batteries are dead.

I do actually agree with that line. Granlund seems to play the kind of game Seto did when he was effective and the way Johnny is playing should inspire them both. If Johnny can't get Seto going then there is no point in him being here...

As an asset, Broissot was flipped for and NHL Dman in Smid. He has played in 67 games and counting for us. So I would consider that a definite win for that selection.

I think it depends on Ortio to a large degree. He was seen as making Broissot expendable. If Ortio doesn't improve (and if Briossot pans out) it's worse.

Teams seem to suck at D in the A.

Not necessarily. Having Gillies in the system also made him expendable.

Brossoit made Brossoit expendable.

Ferland and Granlund are both ready to challenge for minutes. People are going to be pretty surprised I think. Following them closely for the last two seasons, it's pretty evident they have what it takes.

Definitely agree with this. And quite frankly, we desperately need a finisher on this team, so I hope Granlund can be that person. Makes sense Hartley is trying him out with Johnny.
