Button’s Top 75 NHL affiliated prospects
https://www.tsn.ca/detroit-red-wings...list-1.1617205
Flames have three players making this list.
Zary
Pelletier
Wolf
Wings have two of the top three (Seider and Raymond). And most likely another top 3 pick in this draft so you can add another blue chipper
Can’t believe those pesky Oilers have 2 in the top 10. Although I’m not high on Broberg. Hopefully Holloway has been on fire due to Caufield and not the other way around.

Thanks for posting albertGQ. Interesting list for sure. If the Flames are retooling this summer, this should be the only list of prospects they should be accepting in a return for Gaudreau or Monohan. No more Hanowski’s or Agostino’s or any other B prospects.

Quinton Byfield at 17. I would bet a lot of money that Byfield is a better NHL player than most of the players ranked above him. As for the Flames I think everyone knows that the prospect pipeline is pretty thin, Flames are in a win now mode and will have to snag some prospects in the future.

Hanowski
Agostino
Cundari
Berra
My God. And the picks turned into Klimchuk and Poirier. And Berra turned into Hunter Smith.
You couldn't make a very good AHL team with those players except for Agostino.

Yup, the worst player on this year’s canadian wjc team is the best prospect among them, that makes sense.

Makes more sense than this evaluation.

Nice to say that, but how many teams will give up these kind of prospects, especially in a flat cap environment. Will be hard to pry these prospects out of organizations given the current circumstances. Great if we can and agree we should try, I just think it’s going to be hard to do so.

I disagree. This is one man's opinion and there are a lot of quality prospects not included.
Which isn't to say I don't appreciate the list. I actually love Button because he has his views and he puts them out there. His lists are unique and interesting. But they are just one man's opinion and by no means a definitive ranking that should be taken as gospel.

I'm not just saying this because he's an Oilers prospect. Wasn't high on him before they picked him. Holloway being that high is just ridiculous.

How so? In 12 less games he has more than double his point production in his sophomore year at Wisconsin. That’s pretty good if you ask me.

I think there is a legitimate question as to how much Hollaway benefits from playing with Cole Caulfield.

Fair point, and one I was prepared for. Can’t pot goals without good feeds. I know Caufield does a lot on his own, but I think some are selling Holloway short. A season without Caufield will most definitely give us a better evaluation on what Holloway is capable of.

Definitely.
And this is something lots of prospects go through: in his rookie year at BC I remember some concerns that Gaudreau was being propped up by Kreider, and then in his third year there was a prevailing belief that Hayes was a beneficiary of Gaudreau. There was plenty of speculation at the 2016 draft that Marner was propping up Tkachuk.
The only time I have seen Hollaway play was at the WJC. I thought he looked okay, but unspectacular.

Sadly the Oilers have a couple guys who are pretty good at feeding the puck

I thought Pelletier looked significantly better than Zary at the WJC (Zary was somewhat invisible I thought)

Yes, but he was a returning player. The fact that Zary even made the team was really impressive, and he was great in his short AHL-stint

Well Pelletier wasn’t a returning player. Yes, he was drafted a year before Zary. But both were 19 and in their last year of eligibility in that tournament.

Right. My mistake. I was somehow getting Pelletier confused with Dube.
