There's also a new Raised Fist on its way which I for one, am extremely excited about.

The one new release I was really anticipating this year turned out to be beyond disappointing. And that was the new Darkest Hour. I get progressing your sound and trying new things but this effort was.... ugh, I hate saying this because they're one of my favorite bands but that album is truly abysmal. You have no idea how hard it is to say that.

I used to really like early In Flames, but I just can't get behind what they sound like now. Colony was probably my favorite by them

Has anyone else been listening to the new Earth album? It's rad, and available in its entirety on youtube.

I have no idea what this is. Educate me. All I know is about 5 minutes in I started clicking through and it seems like the whole thing doesn't really change tempo or key or anything for 50+ mins.

They're a drone/doom band. Obviously not the most accessible but Earth is considered one of the best at it. Sunn O))) as well. Very mellow yet heavy.

Drone metal "melds the slow tempos and heaviness of doom metal with the long-duration tones of drone music".

I just found out that ARTILLERY is coming to Calgary. "By Inheritance" is one of the best thrash albums ever made.

This sounds like something from Spinal Tap:

Quote:
Bassist Otto Schimmelpenninck of Dutch symphonic metallers DELAIN is recovering after undergoing surgery for a ruptured testicle, suffered during the band's November 26 performance in Birmingham, England.

As some of you know, we use 'streamer canons,' which shoot silver streamers into the audience, usually during 'The Gathering'. We've been using this for ages without any problems at all, but in Birmingham things went wrong.

...In my enthusiasm, I did not pay attention, and happened to be VERY close when the streamer fired. It hit me from the back, in my genitals...Pretty soon pain got to the point where I could barely stay conscious anymore, but for some reason I did manage to finish the show and even squeeze out some grunts!

After the show, the damage was more obvious: my scrotum was the size of a big grapefruit and I was in a lot (yeah, really a lot) of pain. I was taken to the nearest hospital where after hours and hours of waiting, I was finally operated around 8:30 in the morning. It appeared here my left testicle had been ruptured as well as some arteries. More than 500 ml of blood was removed from my scrotum and my testicle stitched up.
the whole story here:

www.blabbermouth.net/news/video-footage-of-delain-bassists-testicle-rupturing-stage-mishap/#jSjxdc3wgZDtb2sa.99

footage at about 3:30. It doesn't look bad, but you can tell he feels it:

Really digging the new Amaranthe album. The metal purists here may scoff, but I'm always interested in new experiments with the metal genre and they've gotten very good at throwing in the electronic elements in their sound

Amaranthe has a good sound they just need to work on their songwriting, I like the production of it. They could go places with some memorable melodies

They're like a Japanese Faith No More. I like it

EDIT: That's for the first video. I just watched the second one Scrambler posted and I have no clue what to compare it to. But it is somehow one of the most and least Japanese things I've ever seen

Yeah, that's pretty much they it works over here for music/tv/etc. Just when you think it's normal... it gets odd... fast.

In saying that, the second vid あいりん 'alien' is not very typical for MTH. The first vid I posted is more or less what they do for the most part - good hard rock. I love the bass, the scream, the vocals and the chick that plays the drums and sings too.

I too am excited for it and I just listened to the new single. IMHO Its not bad but its definitely not what I was expecting. Its definitely more catchy and mainstream sounding. Hope the rest of the album is better/harder.

Even Google translate didn't help me out here... "Mr., Well. Fuakuya"

Anyways 2 other awesome Japenese bands, Sigh and Swarrrm (who are grind, so I won't bother linking to them even though they're fantastic).
