I liked the new Burr special because it was different- he tried a couple of new things. The submarine bit I thought was great.

If it was just him up there finding new ways to scream about women it would get old, and to me it seems every special is at least different from the last.

Not sure if discussed yet but I watched Riverdale, it was pretty good. I don't like the every Thursday format for releasing new episodes though, I wan to binge Netflix... WON'T YOU LET ME BINGE!!!

Okay. That is a review that I never thought I would see.

I thought it was awful. Just an American Beauty / Beverly Hills 90210 ripoff. I guess it most reminded me of a poorly executed kind of Smallville.

Please don't slash American Beauty with Beverly Hill 90210. It's an insult to that wonderful film.

It was trying to meld both of them though and unsuccessfully. It's not intended as a slight to American Beauty.

Oh, I thought he was talking about 90210.

My wife and I got through about 10 minutes before turning it off. Not sure if I'm missing something here, but it seemed horrible.

You didn't miss anything. It just isn't a good show. The only reason to tune into this is the curiosity factor and the connection to the comics.

It's a CW show, Netflix just got the Canadian distribution rights. You're lucky they're putting up new episodes once a week instead of making you wait until the second season premieres before letting you watch it, like happens with most non-Netflix produced shows.

It was starting to get good towards the end. I would suggest watching the two part "In the Mirror Darkly" from season 4. A story worthy of bringing in the most hardened TOS fan.

It's not bad. Certainly a specific "flavor" (that flavor being your completely typical CW drama) and seems to have almost nothing real to do with Archie, but I think it's ok so far.

Season 4 generally holds up quite well on repeat viewing, as does the pilot.

The rest on the other hand, with the odd exception, is pretty poor.

I thought it basically followed the Life with Archie story arc?

I don't think so? maybe. I was never a big Archie reader but it's definitely unlike any Archie comics I've ever read.

I haven't actually watched it yet but it looks like it's based on that comic, given anything I've heard or read.

Just from what I looked up, and based on watching the show so far, I don't think it's directly based on a specific arc in the comic but it's definitely based more on that version of Archie (maybe some story elements are taken from it, not the main arc as far as I can tell though).

Either way, I like it. Definitely not surprising in tone, quality, or intended audience if you've ever seen a CW show before. Not a lot different in quality than shows like Supernatural or Arrow.

It's CW. You get what you get.
