If EDM wins the lottery then there is something seriously wrong with the system

I could actually see the reverse Pittsburgh happening if Edmonton won. Bettman and Daly just being "Nope ... not ####ing happening, draw again"

sorry for the dumb question.
Do you think the lottery results are authenticate/genuine, or is there some under the table shuffling that happens?

exactly. I just feel the NHL wouldn't allow the oilers to win the draft yet again. well if this were the case, they wouldn't have allowed the team to win 3 in a row, so perhaps it is a truly genuine/authentic result.

I think most years are genuine. I'll always feel that the Crosby lottery was just way too convenient.

Actually the worst case would be Vancouver winning and us picking 5th.

Didn't they say that Deloitte or KPMG audits each draft lottery?

The Draft? No idea how or why a city is selected. We had one in 2000.
The All Star game would only happen well after the new building.
Cities that have never hosted:
Anaheim
Nashville
Phoenix
Winnipeg
Columbus (2015)
Cities that have hosted but not in their current buildings:
Pittsburgh
Philly
New Jersey
Washington
Chicago
St. Louis
Buffalo
Cities that will not have hosted in their building by the time the Flames build something:
Detroit
Edmonton
NYI
NYR (MSG's $1 billion reno essentially makes it a new building)

Oilers and self-respect don't exactly walk hand-in-hand.

Completely agree. The Oilers have proven they are a pile of trash after many years of top picks but the Canucks have recently become a pile of trash so we don't know what will actually happen if they get a top pick

Way too much to lose and too little to gain in fixing the draft results.
Plus too many people would have to be involved with little reason for one of them not have said something by now.
Getting Pittsburgh a Crosby isn't close to reason enough to risk the integrity if the whole league.
Why would Calgary, NYR or Anaheim owners care about Pittsburgh getting Crosby enough to endorse Bettmann rigging the draft?

I think I'm rooting for Buffalo to win the lottery.
Not only would the Flames still end up an excellent player in Bennett/Dal Colle, but it would likely benefit us for next years lottery.
Assuming the NHL changes the rules to account for teams that have picked say, top 3 in the last 5 years, Calgary would be the team out of the bottom-feeders with one of the best chances of picking first. I would much rather miss out on Ekblad this year but pick up Bennett/Dal Colle and then Mcdavid, Eichel, or Hanifin (who some say is better than Ekblad anyways) next year.
Thoughts?

It is very unlikely the NHL changes the draft lottery rules for next year's draft.
It may come up again in the future, but Tim Murray said in an interview the feeling he gets is there is very little appetite to change the lottery at this point.

I am happy with the status quo after the lottery, my primary concern would be with Vancouver or one of the better western teams winning the lottery. Anaheim wining will probably setup a potential monopoly of the Stanley Cup. Vancouver, Nashville or Phoenix winning would really give those teams a boost.

There is zero reason to think the NHL changes the lottery rules by next year so I prefer we win the lottery this year.
