Rangers in 6. Lunqvist is too much for Philly's offense to get going. Nash has a great first round and leads the offense for the Rangers.

Rangers in 7.

Lundqvist > Sieve Mason.

Rags in 6. Goaltending is the obvious difference.

Pittsburgh is struggling down the stretch. I would've preferred Philly tank to the wildcard to face off with the Pens in the opening round.

NYR has great goaltending, team defense, and can roll 4 lines.
In Philly, Mason is day-to-day, and their team defense is crap. Their strengths are their offensive firepower and special teams. #3 in PP goals, and their PK has been really good down the stretch. Everything runs through Giroux, but they also boast a total of 7 20-goal scorers, tops in the league.

Brain says NYR in 6; heart says Philly in 7.

I don't know why I dislike the Rangers so much but I hope they lose, Philly is a bit of a wildcard for me and I think 7 game series.

I'll give it to the Rangers though.

Tough one to call, but I am saying the Flyers in 7. both teams will have the lead in the series at one point.

Lundqvist may be better than Mason, but the Flyers have secondary scoring.

Flyers in 7. I am going to take the lower seed in this series. After a tough start to the year, Philly turned it around and has been playing some great hockey. Canada won the gold medal without him so things worked out well, but I still can't believe Claude Giroux wasn't on that team! One of the best players in the game. I think this will be a real physical series with a lot of pushing and shoving between whistles. Philly is a relatively young team and while the Rangers have the advantage in net, I think Philly will pull it out in a hard fought series.

Predictions? Thoughts on the series?
I almost forgot about this. It has further fueled my hate for Martin St. Louis. Whines to Yzerman about not being on Team Canada, whines for a trade from Tampa. Quite possible his whining was the X-factor in getting him on the team ahead of Giroux as Stamkos' replacement. What a boob. I'm guessing most fans in Philly won't care about this, but it would be awesome if St. Louis were booed every time he touched the puck.

Score Mobile alert says Emery will start game 1. I'm in the minority, but I like Emery more than Mason. Emery's got some Stanley-cup playoff experience, but is lacking confidence. Mason has been over-rated by the public -- which is rare for Philly goalies. Mason's first half of the season, he averaged 2.4 GAA but had a losing record. Then, he signs a contract extension, and averages 2.6 GAA over the second half, but the team bails him out with scoring. Very average goalie.

I'm surprised that the TSN pundits and majority here seem to favor the Flyers. NYR has a very balanced team: Flyers are the clear underdogs IMO.

This doesn't feel like a playoff game, the crowd is dead.

Yup.

Jason Akeson takes a high sticking double minor, and the Rangers blow the game wide open. The Flyers need to stay out of the box if they have any hope. The Rangers are just beating their heads in on the power play.

I didn't expect the Rangers to dominate the game like this.
