The main reasons are that two of the games will be matinees weekend and will be televised on NBC. The ratings will be lower because they are not in prime time and viewers in Canada will have a choice of which network to watch.

Yikes the Wings scare me.They seem to have the Bruins number this year because their speed is used quite effectively against Boston's D.im hoping Chara goes beast mode again this year and Seidenberg returns, Boston will need them

The wings are banged up and dont stack up against the Bruins in the 1st round.

2 years ago the Wings wouldve walked all over the B's.
What an odd post.

According to TSN, the first time wings play bruins in the playoffs since 1957.

Bruins in 5.

Bruins in 6 games... Series will go tied 2-2 with one won in both arenas, and then Boston just wins the next 2.

the wings, despite struggling to get in, are always a threat in the playoffs. Just look back at last year where the knocked off the ducks, who were such a powerhouse team in the west.

if the wings are healthy, this could be a definite first round upset.

My heart and my money is still on iginla and the bruins.

Hoping this is the year for #12!

Wings will be dangerous. Young guys stepped up when the vets got injured.

As much as I like Iggy and the Bruins, I have chosen no Bruins in my hockey pool. I believe the Wings have a good chance of winning this series.

Gotta love all the early start times. I hate waiting until 7/8 MST for my big game.

Go Iggy!

This could easily go 7, but with good luck and goaltending I hope Bruins can win the close games and get through in 5 or 6 games and stay healthy for round 2.

Obviously the Wings have been a great team for years and years. 23 straight trips tot he post season now.

Unfortunately, they are not the team the used to be. Even with a healthy Zetterberg and Datsyuk, they won't match up to Boston. Boston has so much depth up front it is ridiculous.

Bruins have five 20+ goal scorers and two 30 goal scorers. They play such a dominating game. Not to mention Rask is in between the pipes.

Bruins in 4. I honestly don't see the wings standing a chance. Their goaltending is a huge question mark as well.

I would say Bruins in 5, most of the Red Wings top veterans are past their prime and the newer players will have rude awakening.

Matchups...

Rask vs. Howard - Rask wins this, but Howard is dependable. He won't win the series on his own but won't lose it on his own, either.

Defense - No Seidenberg makes this closer than it initially appears. Chara is a slower version of himself - still a top defenseman in the league, but is not the invincible force he once was. Kronwall is still Kronwall. It's again advantage Boston at the top, but the gap isn't what it was 2 years ago. As far as the supporting cast goes, it's tough to call a favourite. Adam McQuaid is out which hurts the Bruins' depth, and they'll have to rely on Krug and Hamilton somewhat.

Forwards - With Zetterberg, you can make the case that it's close. Datsyuk, since returning, has been an absolute force. Everyone knows what Nyquist has done. Tatar has been getting better as the season rolls along. If you can roll two lines featuring those four players, it's basically even in the top 6. And the supporting cast for the scorers isn't what Boston has (Loui Eriksson on the third line? F off) but it's reasonably strong. Without Zetterberg though, it's harder to spread the offensive talent around the lineup, and the depth for the Bruins is too much not to say that this category is easily Boston's.

Special Teams - Boston's PP is 3rd; Detroit's is 18th. Boston's PK is 8th, Detroit's is 12th. Nuff said. Although the parade of injuries throughout the season probably had something to do with that PP ranking; the talent wasn't there consistently to put a legit #1 unit on the ice for 1:20+ per penalty.

So yeah Boston wins literally every category... I still have some faith because it's the playoffs and who knows, but it's hard to see a clear way to beat these guys.
